In one discussion here, I provided wrong information about the subject of f discussion. I provided the info which one of my lecturer(teacher) told me about. He always says many things about different subjects, apart from studies. He is very good in the subject he teaches us. So, i thought his all opinions of different subjects are also true. That's why I provided the info he told us around a month ago. But, other mylotters found out and warned me about this. So, i checked over the internet and shocked. The teacher gave us wrong information. Today, also I noticed, apart from studies, whatever he says is actually he made them himself. It may or may not be true or he just mixed up different things. He is very good in his subject, though. What do you think about this ? Is it okay for a teacher to provide some wrong info about anything, even if it is for a good cause ? I think , no teacher should ever do this. When the student will find out, he will get bad feeling about it.

A teachers job is to teach not mislead. I think if he wants to make stuff up he should take up writing fiction. I think it is horrible he is misinforming his students. But also I have to wonder if he knows he wasn't speaking the truth.

I don't think that he does have any clear knowledge of anything except few of them and his studies. Most of his tells are careless.

I think as a teacher, they should be careful in everything they said to the students..Rather not to mention things that they are unsure than making false information that could misled the students.. The effect of what she did has a big impact with that teacher and to other persons in this profession, students may loss their respect and trust to teachers and they cannot blame the students if they feel that way after what happened.. I know teachers are not perfect, just like us we cannot assume that teachers know everything in this world..but to avoid I think this kind of situation teacher should be coutious in every information that they are saying..

Nobody is perfect. But, he always says his opinions so strongly that anyone can think that he is absolutely right. But its just a make off

Meaning he is aware that not all he said is correct and true.

Teachers should always make themselves as good examples for their students. Students look up to them in a way that they know they would learn from them a lot. And thus giving out wrong info could mean a teacher's loss of credibility.

If he is not so sure about anything, than he can add perhaps, like that, etc. But, his opinions got strong by his style of telling and strength of voice. Now, I am not going to believe his talkings again. But, till now i always believed all his opinions, and i liked him very much. But, not anymore

Hi, Your teacher is good in his subjects. he provided you wrong information about something. But it was not deliberately done by him. You should tell him about this. so that he could not make this mistake again. Teacher should check everything before telling you. Because students always think that teacher is always true.

It all depends on why he gave you the wrong information. If, as I'd expect, it was a simple mistake then that's all it was just a teacher proving that he is human. But he should always take care to make sure his facts are correct and work from a book or the internet to ensure that these mistakes don't happen. If he did it on purpose, then the question arises as to why he did it and whether you missed a part of his talk in the class that told you that he was testing you in some way. But I'm sure noone will hold you to blame for passing on information that you were told by someone who should have got it right.

in my opinion, a teacher should not give wrong information at all cost. Because as a student, we want to learn the right things in the right way. If we learn the wrong things that we don't realise or don't find out, then we will teach others the wrong things too. Since you have discovered that he is giving wrong information, try to ask him nicely. Try asking for evidence . If he cannot provide any, then you need to ask higher authority. I don't think it is cruel to do that, but you need to make things right. If he teaches you wrong information, he will jolly-well teaches more others the same thing. You have the right to ask and make things right. Hope the teacher admits his mistake . if he does, forgive him . He will mend his ways with integrity if he is truly passionate in teaching.

Oh No, He teaches very well and he has knowledge. But sometimes in class we discuss different topics too and our teacher always wins using little tricks like mix up of things to show how much he knows. Otherwise he is good and supportive. I am not interested to complain. Maybe its his style. I was only very sad knowing that I have to check his discussion well. Thanks

I think the teacher should just give the facts and if something is his opinion then he should make that clear. He should also warn students that what they hear or read is not always truth and that it is wise to get info from several sources. It is almost impossible to know for sure that what is in the news, text books, etc is the truth.

Well, from my point of view, we must analyze the context in which your teacher has given wrong notions. If he is wrong, but did not do so voluntarily "to err is human", then he is always the figure of good professor to teach his subject. But if he purposely gave erroneous instructions, well then in that case, he is not doing well at his job as a teacher! When teaching is fundamental duty to provide correct information. Why he should have done such a thing voluntarily (in giving incorrect information)?

I think he heard it from somewhere. never analyzed that. Or he wasn't sure, so he mix it up with something else and spit that out, just to showing off about his knowledge of everything and anything.

No teacher or no other person has to give wrong information to people. On our part, we should not always believe or take what we get. We do need a lot of researching especially if the subject talks about facts.

according to me teaching is not a profession it is a service to this nation.god teachers help make good students. the contribution of teachers to any society is immense. even if you consider teaching as profession then there are professional ethics which every teacher should follow. so what i feel is that its totally wrong wrong for a teacher to misguide a student. but at the same time as a student we should also not blindly accept everything what a teacher says. we must always follow a rational approach in everything we do. what do you say

My opinion, even if the teacher doesn't like the facts/ truth behind a subject... He shouldn't just try to cover it up, if he doesn't like it then maybe he shouldn't discuss it. Lying doesn't get you anywhere in this world, been there done that, but at the same time he probably has his reasons for saying what he did, but if the student ever catches on to the lie than there will be reasonable doubt for future subjects that he talks about...even if you say it won't happen...once someone is lied to they tend to try and figure out if its true after
