How can you work well in a company if your not happy with what you are doing anymore? I've worked as a secretary in a real estate company before. My salary is good but the problem is my Boss. He's from a country which cannot speak english very well. He cannot express things which he really wanted to say and when you cannot understand what he was about to say he will just shout at you anytime he wants or even in front of public. He even sometimes let you lie just to earn money from the clients. I just recently resigned and I want to know if I made the right decision or not.

You did the right thing. Yes, he may be your boss but he can not say bad things to you or humiliate you in front of other people, even if he is the one paying your salary how big or small it is. He had no right, and to think that he is foreigner, he should be ashamed of himself treating you like that. He is the one who had a problem, why wouldn't he hire an interpreter so he can be easily understood.

Yes, what he said maybe is true in their country but not here. Yes, why bother to work if he is rich. He should stay at home and be served but not in the office. Your boss thought that he can buy anything because he thought that all have a price because he have lot's of it. It's good that you have quitted to be her secretary.

According to him that's why they are like that it's because they have a very good position and power in their country. He can fire anyone he likes in there company there. He always brag how rich he is and how he can buy anything he likes. At the back of my mind i'm wondering why he would lie if he's rich just to get money. Why don't he just stay in their country and be like a King their if it's true that he is very rich in their place.

no doubt you made the right decision,
If you are working in a company that offer high salary but you are having a problem with the management, its better to find a new one that will give you a good working environment.
You cannot enjoy your working environment if you have that kind of boss, its like you're just in the beginning of your shift yet you are already counting for the number of hours remaining to go out, this will do the cycle if you will still stay.
For the high compensation, if they offer you that salary, then I'm pretty sure some other company can also offer you that same range or even higher.

You are right collie26. I really look stressed when I was still working there. I am trying to look for a job now and i hope it would have a nice environment.

Your decision is right. It is really hard to work with such kind of admins. As you mentioned your boss don't know English language problem is a great one. Your boss must learn English to avoid this. Good to know you resigned this job. Wish you to find a great job in the near soon.

Yes it's very hard for them to speak English language. They can speak a little but they cannot pronounce it well. They sometime do sign language which makes us more confused with what they are trying to say

think about it this way. if you've managed to survive that long in an unethical company with abusive expats, then it'll be so easy for you to work in a well-managed and upright company.
they lure people with a high salary but that's where it ends. hell begins on your first day of work. and their reasoning is for every person that resigns, 10,20, 30 applicants are desperate to take their place. companies like that should actually be reported to the authorities.

You are right hereandthere. All of those applicants that I talked to said the company's management is not good. Actually that company does not have a permit yet. They are just like illegal in that business. They are not afraid because they have a lot of connections especially in the police department.

Hi! Well, I think you made the right decision. It's an abuse of power or authority. Even people with same nationality does that. It makes employee be demotivated and it affects their productivity too.
It's a sad reality. There are plenty of jobs out there that has good management although not perfect as there's always a room for improvement on both side. Good luck on your next job. I hope you'll find what you want. Have a great day!

I agree with you. They are just thinking about today and not about the future. They did not think that each day we lose a client because of ,company's credibility. That every time they lie, we are just putting dirt on company's name.

Hi friend...I think a job does not only related with salary, but also convenience. It is a good idea if you resigned from the company where you never feel comfort. Work need energy, time, thought and heart. Why we should waste time, energy , thought and heart for something that we do not enjoy. I think you are right leave the company to get better job. Have a nice day.

Hello srisahara. What I've learned with that job is as being an employer we should value our employees. Though we are offering not big salary but we have a good relationship with them they will stay with us rather than offering them a big salary but treating them like a robots. Being the Boss does not give you the right to humiliate people. I hope some employees do realize that

Yes, you have made the right decision. At least, that's according to me. I never stayed in a job if that doesn't make me happy anymore. I struggled to find the better place for me to earn -- this means I wake up happily to go to work, and going home happily..
But this thing is kinda hard to find.. :) you need to really look inside yourself and see what you really want in this life.

Hello hestylim. Thanks for the opinion. At least I'll not regret. But I don't know yet what I really want in life I hope I can discover it soon.

Self respect is more valuable than money. We always think money can buy anything. Baby, money can't buy happiness. I also did some extra jobs that were paying really good even if it was against my principle to do it. They were very decent jobs but it was just too much to bare being paid for something you don't like doing. I was so unhappy every time I got my pay check that just went shopping. I got good clothes alright but it still did not fulfill my longing for that self respect. You did the right choice. I am on your side!

I also felt that. I am not contented with my work though I got a big salary and bonus. I always feel that they doesn't value my work and they are just using me. lt After I resigned I feel. I can sleep well without any problem

A high salary is not all that matters especially if you're not happy in your work place anymore.Sometimes we don't have any choice but to stay if it's too difficult to find a decent job. However if you have still have several choices regardless of salary rate,it's better to let go of that job.You can be sick from stress brought by that job in long run, and your salary may not be enough to pay your medical bills.

As for me, I would rather quit a job I do not like no matter how much I'm paid. My happiness and interest in anything I do is of paramount importance to me. Let me even pause and think, how can any business firm progress without effective communication-I doubt.

i would have done the same thing. communicating with people who speak our language is even hard sometimes, how much more with those who do not understand the language well? some employers are arrogant and ill mannered. they think that because they pay your salary, they have a right to be rude.
you will find other jobs. keep on searching and something will come up sooner or later. good luck.

You are right dagami. I even put that in my resignation letter that it's not right to look down your employee because without an employee, employers company will not succeed. I'm just wondering why they cannot notice that all of the applicants that they hired just work with them for a week or two and resigned after. Actually I'm the only employee who stayed with them for long time. It's just amazing every time I remember how I survived with them. Well I'll just take it as a challenge because I know in a positive way it also helped me became a stronger person.

I'm also like you Kmz059 before. I'm also patient with my Boss because I really need the job but I'm already in my boiling point that every time I'm in the office I always look at my wrist watch because I want to go home. Who on this earth can even work well if every time you cannot understand what they were saying because they cannot speak english well they will just shout. Treat you as if you're just a trash and you don't have a feelings. They doesn't follow office hours and would just let you go home once they are done. No holidays and double pay during holidays. No government benefits. Skipped lunch if they have a busy schedule. Say bad words in their language when they are with their clients. I'm so tired being a puppet secretary anymore.

I think you have made a right decision. If somebody do not know how to respect, you need not to be friendly.Meanwhile It is your life, and you should believe whatever choices you make. Life is short and money is not as that important as people think. I think you are still young to purse whatever you want.

We have the same insights beta715. I don't want to degrade my personality because of them. With hardword, patience and perseverance I know I can find a better job. I'm done with those teary working days. Respect is for those who deserved it and not for those who demand it and for them they doesn't really deserve even a small one.

Yes you made the right decision. One of the things that can make a healthy working environment and happiness at work is working relationships. If you cannot make a successful conversation with any co-worker, most especially with the boss, then it is better to find a job that you feel most comfortable with. If I am in your place, and the pay is really fat, I would still continue to work and endure language barrier with my boss. I am the type of person who create problems to challenges. And since I have a family to feed, I would definitely try to stay.
