Do you appreciate being able to come and go as you please?

Does your family have two vehicles? How long do you think you could go without having your own vehicle? Right now I don't have a vehicle. But my husband has an equinox and had a van at the same time. All of this business stuff is about to drive me crazy.
My husband is trying to get a business going and in the process he is spending a lot of money that I think is going to take us a long time to make back. With all the money we will be dishing out we could have bought me a small little car that my daughter and I could use.
I've been out of a car for seven months now I think that is long enough. We had an accident with his work van and I understand we need to get that replaced or get him smaller equipment. But what my husband does is he has started to look for really expensive equipment or really expensive work vans instead of just getting an old van for this ONE account we have. I don't think it is very smart for us to spend thousands of dollars when we don't even have the accounts yet.

I don't have a business so it is okay with me to use public transportation whenever I have to go to and from the office. My husband have his motorcycle and we can use it from time to time. Although I really wanted to have my own car but I am still saving for it as of now.
Have a nice day!

I hope that in time you will be able to get your car. It would be nice for you to have one. In our area we don't have public transportation so it's nearly impossible to get around without one.

Glad to hear that you and your mother are able to go places when you need too. Unfortunately in our area if you don't have a car it's not likely that you can get anywhere. It would be nice if we had buses or something like that around here but we don't.

Sorry to hear that your car was stolen. It is a good thing that you were able to get another one. I'm working on looking out for a good deal for a car. I really need to have one and I hope that soon I will find something nice.

three years ago, we used to have a van and an opel corsa. my husband used the van for his business while i used the small car. i don't have young kids to take to school but i really appreciated having that car around. i didn't have to carry the heavy groceries whenever i went shopping and i could go for a drive with my friends to the countryside. although i prefer taking public transport to work, having that car made my life more convenient.
unfortunately, my husband's business didn't do well and we decided to let go of the small car because we were spending too much on insurance fees. i drive the van whenever the need arises but i prefer a smaller car.
i think your husband spent good money on his van. he wants to avoid the high maintainance cost of older vehicles. when his business picks up, he won't have to worry about his van whenever he uses it because he knows it's in good condition.

Yeah some older vehicles do cost a lot. I'm sorry to hear that you had to let go of the small car. I hope that in time your husband's business will pick up. I think that my husband will have to make some type of sacrifices along the line so that we can have a small car. Because for awhile he had the van that he used only for one account and then he would drive the other vehicle to his job in another town which gave him two vehicles and I didn't have any. So hopefully sometime soon this will change.

Life is always a lot easier if you have the freedom to come and go as you please, but unfortunately life isn't always like that.
With the current worldwide recession and the constant rise of the cots of keeping two or more vehicles, it's not always possible to have a car each which can make life very difficult, especially if you live out of town.
I've almost always been fortunate enough to have my own car, but as I'm currently out of work, things may have to change very soon and, like yourself, I'm not too sure how well I'll cope with being confined to the house all the time.
I sympathise with you and am not really looking forward to joining in on your hardship :(
Unfortunately, you have to tailor your spending to fit your income and not your requirements.
