Owlet fell in our front yard

Last month an Owlet fell in our front yard from a tree.I was really amazed to see its big size as most of the Owls found in our area(i've seen only two) are of this size even when they are fully grown. It was big and yet didn't know how to fly.Our dogs started barking at it and it was really hard to control them.It couldn't fly or run fast and was sitting on the same place even when the dogs came nearer. It just spread its wing trying to scare them. Its mother(i think) was high on a tree and all the crows were trying to attack it.So I called the forest department and they sent two men immediately. They were also amazed to see it and said it was a rare species and generally not found in our area. One of them climbed the tree it was in and found that it's nest(not its own, owls are opportunistic nesters) was full of ants and that's why it must have jumped off. They put it in a cage and took it away.
Now I feel a little good and a little bad as I saved the Owlet but also took it away form its mother.
I've included the picture...It's really cute!

Awwww, I'm so happy you were able to rescue it! She's/he's beautiful! I absolutely love Owls and have statues in my house of them. I think they are one of the most amazing birds around. Do you remember the name of this species since it was a rare one?
You're so lucky you get to see the little guys. I live in the city and don't see them at all. Anyways, I'm glad you called and they saved it! Good Job!

Actually I forgot to ask which species it was.Or maybe they had told me and I just don't remember.I had also planned to take a picture of me with the owl in my hands before the men from the animal rescue came. You know how some things don't come up in our minds when we want them to! right?

Yes, I understand, I do that all the time, lol! The Owl was a beauty and it would have made a super cool picture with you holding it. Unless of course, the photo showed it chewing your hand off, haha! Just messin' with ya of course..I'm sure you would have worn gloves.

I'm glad the owl was rescued. By this point its already imprinted by its mother so they don't have to worry about it imprinting on people, so don't worry about mom, she'll be fine and so will the baby.
I've only seen some small owls around here, that I've seen any is amazing enough!
