I have an area of my yard that I'll be digging up to plant my herbs. It's near the front walk, gets plenty of sun, and is in the path for run off of water when it rains. I am hoping that the herbs will grow better than they have in years past. I could get some herbs to grow, but not others, it was very frustrating. Do you plant herbs to use in cooking? What do you plant?

Oh, I'm so jealous! I live in an apartment and can't really have a little garden. I do have some herbs here in the house though which I keep in the sun. I have Rosemary and Basil at the moment. I love herbs and they smell sooooo gooood!! Love to use them in cooking.
Just remember that some herbs don't like too much water. My daughter has them on the side of her house and they are sort of slanted on a small hill where the water can run off. Maybe you'll have better luck where you're planting them now. You can always research which herbs like water and which one's don't like that much...same with the sun.

I have enough oregano to dry for use at pizzas and pickles that require the ground kind. As it is perennial, I think it has been at my garden about 20 years. A friend on mine give me a cutting then, with some roots. It took.. I also have parsley and I plant it again every 2 or 3 years. I have enough to make dumplings and omeletteswith it. I also have chives in a container and mint and a sort of mint-tea. I have tried my hand with garlic, but it`s not worth the effort. There`s something I don`t do right so they come out too little. I have other plants that I use to cook, but they are not herbs. A have a nice bay tree and give out bay leaves to whoever comes here.
