Why is Shopping so Exhausting?

I've been out today doing our food shop and a few other errands, and by the time we got home I was so tired I couldn't even be bothered to eat (which is very unlike me!).
I started the day by going to the tractor place, then to the market to buy veggie and some plants. Next was a slap up restaurant lunch which is my reward for going shopping which I detest, hardly hard work. Then the supermarket whilst my parter did the hardware shop, followed by a follow up to the tractor place, race to supermarket number two then back to the tractor place to finally pick up the tractor and race home as we were already late for the kids getting home.
It's no worse than many people do, nor physically taxing compared to my day to day life, so I can't work out why I find it so utterly exhausting. Perhaps the rush? Perhaps the long drive? Maybe just because I would rather do just about anything else than a supermarket shop!
Do you enjoy shopping? Do you find it exhausting too?

Shopping is not exactly stimulating I find and it's not quite a chore but not relaxing either as you have to be mentally alert for bargains and watching the budget, thinking menus and storing surplus bargains, looking for items needed not on the list and looking for items on the list. I take back what I said earlier, it IS a chore - a mental one.
I also get my fuel on these trips and spending anything up to a hundred bucks just on fuel is daunting. It used to be less than half that not so long ago it seems.
I also pick up food for the goats and dogs every few months and even though I pay my bills online and do most other shopping for clothes etc online, it's not unusual to get home a few hundred dollars lighter. I try not to go too often.

The most exhausting part of going shopping every week with my mum is the getting up! It's the only time also when father will get out of his chair and switch the television off, after all the food is for him too, so he drives, usually he goes around with mum, but he's such an embarrassment, the size of him, the way he dresses, albeit the way he doesn't dress himself, so I go along to help out, which father loves as all he has to do is drive and stay in the car, whilst mum and I go around the shop, I load up the trolley and bag it all, and put in the car and unpack it at the other end, and put it away in the cupboards and fridges. I am so grateful it's over, it's only once a week, but for me the worst bit is having to get up early, but it helps mum, so I don't mind.

I hate to shop for just about anything but craft stuff. These days, because of my bad feet, at least I can normally sit in one of the electric shopping scooters and take my time.
Still, since I'm not on a time frame like you are, I can take my time. Doesn't make me like it, just hate it that much less...

I think most guys hate shopping too! Well, I know I do!
Maybe grocery shopping isn't too, too bad because there's a list, and if we stuck to the list, we don't spend too much time wandering about in the store.
It's these 'wandering' around that I find exhausting. Yes, we might find plenty of things that we might like, but it's sometime physically draining, with all the walking, and the buggy-pushing, etc.

I remember it is maybe one or two hour's drive for you to get there. You run off your feet, now here, now there ,and made sure you came back before your kids getting home. This is just why you felt tired.Occasionally going shopping does make a change.

I have to be in the right mood to enjoy shopping and that doesn't happen often. And, yes, it exhausts me when I do go. I think it's the idea of having to go here and there and somewhere else, while dealing with so many people and things that aren't the same as dealing with every day things at home.
Anyway, I don't like it, for the most part and I think the reason why is because it wears me out.

I'd say you did quite a bit today! That's a lot of running around back and forth. And yes, I hate food shopping. The only time I don't mind it is when I have nothing better to do. Otherwise, I can't seem to get done fast enough and it seems the lines take so long...and then it's lugging it up the stsirs to my apartment..ugh to it all. I need to get married, hahaha!

I hate to shop! It is exhausting not just because of my physical limitations but the mental and emotional toll. The tally in my head just keeps adding up and I resent the money I spend, which I could be putting in my savings account to be used for emergencies. The range of emotions I feel is also tiring--elation at finding something I need on sale, distress and disappointment to find that something I can't do without is more than I want to pay and more than it was the week before, and frustration because I can't get most of the things I want because they are too expensive. I imagine you feel a lot of the same emotions and they can drain you pretty fast!
I have friends who treat shopping like recreation. If they want a nice, relaxing outing they go shopping and can't understand why it is so stressful for me and why I hate it so much. These same women spend everything they make, don't have two nickels to rub together, and don't stress about it. I almost wish I could be like them.

Shopping is exhausting! Isn't it? I like it though.
Sometimes I feel tired already by only spending an hour only at the grocery store shopping for food and what not. When I get home, I have to put it away before I can sit down. But what's funny to me is I don't find it exhausting in the progress of shopping especially if I am doing luxury shopping, don't know what tire is about until I stop and go home

I have never liked to go to the super, GreenMoo. It completly tires me out. There`s the list that I carry in my hand or in my purse or in my jean`s pockets. Four places where to look every 5 minutes. Murphy`s laws says that it is always in the last place I look. It seems that I finally got everything in the cart (plus some items I shouldn`t have, temptation style) and then I head for the line to pay. When I`n about to reach the cashier, I read the list again and discover that I did not get the most important item. Next comes begging the people there to be patient, I`ll get what I need, run, come back, forget where I was... OMG!!! And I have to be thankful that now I`m not taking my mother to the super. She read every single label of every single can at the super while my feet hurt so much I wanted to cry. Once, one Summer with her, I just took off my sandals and continued barefooted. Yes, I understand that going to the super is terrible!

If I am able to go out shopping with my mother or if I am able to go out shopping by myself, then I find it to be something that is a really fun and enjoyable experience. However, if I have to take my children with me when I am going out shopping, then going to the store can be something that is extremely exhausting to me. The reason for the difference is because of the fact that with the kids in tow they are always asking for something and I have to keep a constant eye on them so I am not able to actually enjoy my time away from home.

I used to love going shopping. Didn't matter what it was, I loved it. However, since I've got older (and I'm hardly classed as old being only 47) shopping in the outside world exhausts me. I don't really know why, either. Perhaps it's the people in the shops annoying me and not being able to find things easily because the staff want us to stay as long as possible in the shop and, perhaps buy something we haven't gone in for? This part of shopping annoys me A LOT and the worst culprit is M&S. Even their own staff didn't realise that the slippers had been moved (again) and it drives me nuts.
Give me online shopping any day. It's not that I'm anti-social, I just find it more relaxing and stress free. The only thing going for outdoor shopping is exactly that..being outdoors! Other than that they can stick it!

M&S is a NIGHTMARE! My parents live near a big M&S and supermarket complex and I occasionally accompany Mum there. I tell you, that place is my idea of hell. The supermarket next door is just as bad as M&S. By the time you've walked through you feel like you've walked miles (you quite possibly have) and really, who needs 15 different sorts of cornflakes to choose from?

I never like to have long hours of shopping. Usually, I will follow what is in my list. Focus on what I want, and off I will go. Unless it is shopping for clothings, I will have great headache and tiring. I would need to find places to sit and rest at interval . It is not fun at all

I buy the same list of items pretty much each time with the exception of the fruit and veg which are seasonal. Clothes shopping is hell if you are looking for a a specific item, such as a pair of black trousers. If you are looking for something specific, you can virtually guarantee that it won't be available in your size or style!

You're simply tired from all the running around and the back and forth. That would tire anyone out. And driving makes me tired also. It does sound like you did a lot of shopping as well as a lot of running around. so that seems normal to me.
