Well as I recently posted I will be on the hunt for a new place to live... today I went to get applications for the two Senior buildings in my home town...Well they closed the list for the next three (YES 3) years,,so thats out,,I was a little thrown back but that only means that I am going to have to get my sights set on perhaps out of my home village... But I am sure GOd will see me throught this search and I pray for his guidance...

Hi, It is sad that senior housing is closed for three years. You have to find other options for the place. I wish you will get it soon.

I hope something turns up. I guess the waitlist for the senior buildings got too long so they had to close applications.

Hi cute, thats exactly what happened and the only good I have found in this issue is the inspiration that seniors are obviously living much longer....

There is a long waiting list in my area, as people are living a lot longer now. Many of my friends are in their 90's and very active in this community. One of them still paints houses, which is amazing to me. She has a lot more help today, as I went out and helped her several times. I'm terrified of heights, but watching her climb encouraged me to start climbing. Good luck and hope you are able to find a place quickly.

Wow..sure hope you can find something. We were in one 4 years ago...it wasn't that great! Well the facility was nice, but you'd think they'd have the rents more affordable! $1700 a month for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath! IT was 55 and over only...so you know those incomes are not huge! Plus, they only allowed one car per unit. You had to pay extra for a garage or you got a parking slot with the apt...and if you had another car, which most do...you had to park that car out on the street (a gated complex) and walk quite a ways to get back into the complex! WHen we moved, I checked out another one and it was even worst as far as parking and the facility, and the rent was the same...but I would have been on the third floor! I wish you luck and hope you can find a place...just apply every where you can and get on every list you can..never know how many of those ahead of you on the list have found something else in the mean time and you might get closer to the top.

Wow $17.00 a month Huh!!! thats barely what I am getting per month...but the senior housing her is definately not that expensive unless your income is high...I do believe it based on your house income here... But thanks for your suggestion. you are so right, there may be others ahead on me on the list who no longer wants to be on the list...thanks for that....

I did not know that this was something that was the case when it came to senior housing, but I do know that in my area that there is a very long list for any kind of government funded housing. It really is a shame that this is something that is the case, but I do think that it will continue to be something that is a problem as long as we are living in a struggling economy.

Hi dorann, I was a little shocked myself when I realized the waiting list was so backed up..But it does tell me something, that seniors are living a lor longer that they use to...so i guess there is an up side....

There are other types of housing help. Check all your options. My 27 yr old just found the cutest apartment for less than what I am paying in low income housing with everything included other than electric. It is perfect for one person. I was surprised because we live in an area where rents tend to be outrageous.

It is sad that housing keeps on going fast. randy and I tried to get section 8 housing and that list was closed for three years as well. The trailer we live in is a two bedroom and the only reason we can afford it is because my brother has moved in with us and my brother pays all the utilities. Is there any way possible that gifts can find out of there are any apartments in her building? I know that God will guide you and help you out.
