Cooking is Always Fun

I went to this new restaurant near our house and tried their chicken rice with somewhat less familiar sauce. It was good. It contained mongo sprout, and of course, chicken and rice. The dish definitely had an appeal to my palate. I thought I would cook something like that when I had the chance. When I went to the grocery to buy stuffs I needed for my pantry, I bought a bottle of that spicy sauce. I also bought chicken, mongo sprout, bell pepper, cabbage, carot, and noodles. I cooked my own version of chicken dish but instead of rice, I used round noodles. It turned out very good and with such spicyness I was longing to taste since I had that chicken dish I ordered at the new restaurant. Are you a person who is also passionate about cooking and can cook the same food you ordered at a restaurant with some modifications? My father was very good in doing that. When we were little, we would always visit Chinese restaurants in Ongpin and Old Chinatown. He would always have new menus at dinner time after every visit to restaurants.

I'm 19 and my mom does all the cooking, but I still know some of the dishes. My father is also very fond of cooking and his dishes sometimes taste better than the same restaurant food....I do like to cook other dishes and my mom encourages and helps me with it....but since my vacation has started I'm just making french fries everyday.I eat it during the day and also in the night. My mom says its not good for health but I've heard that oily food and potatoes make you fat and I'm a little skinny.I want some fat on me.I don't think it is a passion but rather think I'm getting addicted to french fries.

Haha! You're normal. Everyone loves french fries. But you should listen to your mom because mothers still know best. And I agree with her, french fries are not really very healthy food. The oil is not good. While you are still young, you should start eating the right food already. It doesn't really mean if you're thin, you need to add fat..that's good if what you take in is good fat. Well, my point is, I am skinny too, and I eat a lot...of vegetables and fruits and fibers...haha! When I was your age, (I think you're way younger than I am), I used to eat the way you do..a little unhealthy...peace..go pursue your cooking.

Wow. How do you cook french fries that are enjoyable even at home? I've always thought that home-cooked fries tend to be soggy and not as great as fastfood fries. But good on ya if you managed to make a go of home-fried fries! I'm addicted to french fries, too, but I totally prefer McDonald's over Jollibee's. Call me a snob, but it's really so much better and crunchier! Try cooking pasta; pasta is pretty easy, not to mention yummy, as well. :) It's the only thing I can cook super well, actually. LOL!

Hello, nenyalorien! Honestly, I grew up loving McDonalds. And I strongly agree with you, their fries are much better that Jollibee's. Why don't we try this..place your fries to a baking dish, toss the fries in some or little olive oil, a little salt, and very little chili powder..then place the baking dish inside the oven..hhmmmm...I just thought of that this moment! I think I'd try that. What can you say, Greyfalcon?

I so love cooking, when I am still a kid we own a food stall in our front house, and I used to help chopping ingredients. I think that is the reason why I love cooking.

Hey, Kmz! We had the same childhood pattern. I was already working in our small restaurant when I was in grade school. Was already business-minded as a child, in fact I was assigned as cashier, bank person (little person actually, because I would always go to the bank to deposit), and server (kid waitress). I also helped a lot in chopping. I would wake up at dawn to be with my parents to purchase a lot of meat and ingredients fresh from the busy market. That's why I love cooking and eating too!

Ahh yes, I do find cooking pretty much fun. :) But I love the "eating" part so much better, LOL! I love cooking pasta. It's the only thing I've perfected doing. LOL!

Adval, what do you like to eat? Me, aside from pasta, I LOVE PORK! But it clogs the arteries and I'm dealing with the consequences today. :(

Hi, nenyalorien! If you can't avoid pork (just like me...only when it's served already...), be sure you do not abuse as if there will be no more pork the next day. Hehe..I mean, I eat pork on occasions and as much as possible, I pick the lean part. You're absolutely right, the cholesterol in pork will clog your arteries...so eat right! Hey, sometimes, I just eat and go food tripping without regard to what comes next inside my body. Bad, right? But guess what, I can live for several days with just fruits and vegetables and other fiber foods. Did I just answer your question? I like eating fruits (I always have a minimum of one apple a day...you know that saying..an apple a day keeps the doctor away..funny!) and vegetables.

Nice! Pasta is my favorite also. Very easy to do and very delicious to eat. I agree with you, there's even much fun in the eating part! :)

The best idea of cooking is always eat and try any kind of menu.I like to cook and modifying a menu into new one.Like for example the curry of japan.I went to market and bought all the ingredients potato, carrots, tuna, bell pepper, onion, garlic, the cream curry and condiments.Instead I always choose the tuna over the meat courses. It was very good. The taste of spicy and smell of curry was yummy.

I love curry and I would always experiment on that. I would always balance the taste of curry with coconut milk or just plain milk. I also used it a lot with fish as main ingredient for my curried food preparation. Than you for the tip on tuna. I'll try that! And you're right, you get to learn cooking by tasting everything.
