Going out at midnight is always a danger no matter where ever we live. So its in our hands how we save our selves. Good and bad in there is every place.

Fortunately our town is at least 95% safe. If I needed to walk out on the street for some reason I would feel alright about it. So few people are out around here then that a policeman would probably stop me and ask why I was out or if I needed a ride somewhere. Cars do go down our main street all through the night but usually they are just passing through.

It's the same as in any other big cities in the world. It can happen any time of the day if you walk alone most especially at night. Danger is everywhere, some lawless elements even trained themselves to upgrade their skills in doing harm to others.

It is never safe anywhere especially when it is already dark and most of the people are already at home. And there is an increase chance of meeting an accident like being mobbed by addicts or drunkards during those time.

Ah,NY is the place i have always wanted to go.I think every city has two faces-the devil one and the angel one .One of my friend who has ever studied there once told me that NY is much more safe these years, since chief Kelly got heavy-handed with the crimes in 2006.Brooklyn and Harlem may be still affected by insecurity,it is a good idea to be careful at sparsely corner and avoid being out at night.
Anyway,NY is a place worth going.Hope you will have a good time there!

I also think it is danger in some place. I think most probably the violence is getting more and more now a days and I think most probably it should be stopped to some extend. I think violent movies also plays a role in the violence.

The way society is today, I think you can say that about most big cities.

I believe anywhere you live in the world it could be dangerous at nighttime if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Of course there are places in New York that are dangerous just like in New Jersey, Chicago, Florida, New Mexico, Puerto Rico,etc...Just because New York has highly trained police does not mean that there is no crimes. There are plenty of crimes in New York at any given time of day.

I think one needs to be more familiar with the city and know what are the places and times to avoid being out. Many cities are not that safe and it is not just New York, in Europe you can be mugged too and it can happen under broad daylight as my friend experienced.

it is true, but the same can apply to almost anywhere I've been there before and its not like every street corner there is a crime being committed, I trust you are talking about the city as that is where the ghettos and gangsters are. The Police there are the most trained because they need to be, but just remember that is probably just because the population of the area. if you are thinking to visit do it! its a really great place.

We, the U.S. has thrown out its foundation and moral roots. Often serious crimes are given lenient sentences. There is more concern and compassion for criminals than there is victims. And we have programs which keep people trodden down, which reward dependence and penalize hard work by having to care for too many dependent on the government. Safety nets have become merely nets! So government can say, see how many we help? But what is occurring with so many, is dependence and helplessness, while government grows bigger and bigger in order to regulate all these programs, and in order to rise above its checks and balances upon power. Power NEEDS to be kept in check. Hence the U.S. is no longer the mostly safe and well place it used to be. Its ruling party is no longer moderate but extreme. And it got to be ruling party by taking over the education and the news reporting media. We recently had a huge crossroads. And I now believe it is too late to turn back. We are all in for a ride.

It is true that there is a lot of crime in New York, but that is probably true of any big city. I guess it depends on the areas that you visit. I have visited New York a lot of times and have never had any problem. I wouldn't go out alone at night though, and it is VERY expensive to live there!
