Hi myLotters, hope you can help me out .
I envy women who have soft and smooth skin on their face. I always wonder how do they maintain it? Honestly, since I have children, I seldom see my face in the mirror. I have a sensitive dry skin. I don't use facial foam, I don't use any makeup. I was told to drink more water to hydrate my skin. I did it, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any home remedy that I can try??

It depends on your skin type my dear.
Better try to consult a professional- but if you don't have much time, then you can search from the net too.
Check if you have oily or dry skin- then search the net for home remedy.

Oh thanks for that compliment
I have an oily skin, so I use lemon to cleanse my face.
Then twice a week I apply egg white on my face (slightly beaten then apply all over your face, allow it to dry for at least 30 mins)
After 30 mins, rinse with tap water and pat dry.
Then apply the egg yolk (no need to beat) and again leave for another 30 minutes before rinsing with tap water.
For the final touch- scrub ice cube for a minute (as long as you can endure the coldness and numb feeling)
I use Astral cream at night (that's the only cream that I use to maintain softness for my face)

I have quite nice skin for my age, and I don't wear make up. My theory is that its diet, I have always eaten a lot of fruit and vegetables, and vitamin c is very important for skin. They also contain a lot of other minerals and vitamins. So if you don't eat a lot now I would increase the amount you eat.
Its not an instant remedy, but children can be quite tiring, and it may be a good idea to look at your diet and see if you can improve it.

Well I try to eat fruit like mangoes and bananas, and apples and oranges. I also love strawberries, and cherries.
Vegetables I tend to eat a lot of salads, and have mushrooms, spring onions, tomatoes. I try to vary what I eat, but avocadoes are my favourite.
I have always like fruit and vegetables, so I find it quite easy to do.
There has been a big campaign in recent years here to encourage us to all eat 5 different fruits and vegetatables a day, excluding potatoes, but that is because people eat them a lot with their meals.
Though the campaign was a bit patronising I do try to do that, and I do think it helps.
Here is something from ehow on which vitamins are good for our skin
http://www.ehow.com/about_5373415_vitamins-good-skin.html
Its not brilliant, but a lot of information on vitamins on the internet are trying to sell us something.
My advice would be to eat food containing those vitamins, rather than using them as lotions, as the quality of our skin is really formed from inside our bodies far more than outside.
If you goggle the different vitamins the wikipedia information usually lists what foods contains them and then just chose what you like, and try and make a meal containing the vegetables that have the vitamins you need in them.
While just eating a bit more fruit is reasonably easy, and hopefully that will improve your skin, and you will feel better too, as a good diet is very important for our health, its quite scary how important it is.

Honestly, I have not been watching my diet since I had children. It is quite depressing sometimes. I think that is why my eldest daughter is picky eater because I didn't show a good example because I did not eat fruit and vegetables that often.
I will have to improve on myself first . What type of fruits and vegetables do you normally eat , may I ask ?

Wow thanks for the great information ! You opened up my eyes when reading ".. the quality of our skin is really formed from inside..." . I totally agree.
I'll try to have fruits as you mentioned. :)

well, you have to use strong moisturizer cream on your face, if that will not be enough for your face dryness then add some olive oil on that and apply on your face every night before going to sleep. the secret of some celebrities who hide what they use, is olive oil, rose water and honey.. in the winter when my skin is too dry I apply olive oil mix with my cream and little rose water.
olive oil will make your skin soft and even look young by age and time if you will use it on daily before going to sleep.
first clean your face, then if you use any moisturizer cream, add some drop of olive oil on your hand and if you want few drops of rose water and then mix them on with your palm and apply them into your face. it will work... olive oil, has many beauty secrets..
