I liked and admired the late Margaret Thatcher and it really disturbs me when the media at this part of the world could be so careless with the news announcing her passing. Undoubtedly, the most feisty courageous female politician ever, I can understand some quarters hating her guts but I felt that people should be respectful. At one end, we have one Taiwanese news station airing footage of Queen Elizabeth II and at another end, we have a Thai Channel using the image of actress Meryl Streep from film The Iron Lady while reporting the death of the former British Prime Minister. How could these people and the television channels be so crude and careless? Even if they have apologized for it, I felt that the damage is already done. So much for being respectful and careful. On the channel I watched they also showed a picture of Meryl Streep also and it was all done it best of taste. Merely showing how well liked and reknowned she was. Crude? Careless? Not hardly. It was really a very nice telecast about her and her passing.

I feel that misrepresentation is not right and a disregarding one's professionalism. This is a sad announcement of a famous icon's departure not some celebratory occasion. Accuracy here is important.

I am certainly sorry you feel that way. I felt it was very tastefully done. The picture of Meryl was merely showing how well liked she was. It disregarding one's professionalism. The bio on her was very accurate. Not a celebrate occasion at all. It was very nice and well done.

Hi artemeis, Yes, I agree that the people responsible for announcing her passing shouldn't be so careless and should give due respect to her and her family. I don't know what her policies were but I've the impression that she is a strong leader with good intentions for her country and countrymen. There are some people who have been hurt and suffered due to her policies but then one can't please everyone. There are also many others who have benefited greatly. Just my thoughts. Have a nice day.

We can never please everyone and in the politics arena, there's no exception. As much as there are people that love her, there will people that loathe her. But like it or not she did make things happen for certain people during her days as a prime minister.
