Hi, I hope ypu'll help me in this. My daughter will turn 5 this May and I am wonderin if she can now enroll in grade 1. She's an intelligent girl she was hailed a first honor award. I am just in doubt because of her young age and with the newly implemented K12 program. I hope to hear from you soon.

I do not know if she will be accepted that early. I think if you think she is a gifted one you might want to have her tested for it so she can be in a special schools for the gifted. I think there are no age limit for that kind of school since the earlier they can detect it the earlier they would do the intervention so the gift would not be wasted. But if she would be classified as a normal intelligence then I guess she has to wait for the right age and maturity to enroll in a regular school. Some parents would force the school to let their children be enrolled but I think that is not good at times with the child since she would be forced to blend in with an age group that she doesn't belong yet and could also make it difficult for her to adjust.

With the Home School program I use my daughter started in first grade instead of Kindergarten because she was ready for first grade, I worked so hard with her for Preschool, so she was super smart! The choice was up to the parents, not the Home School program. So that was nice. =) I think it all depends upon the school or program most of the time... They are all different.

Its good to know about your kid on home school. I had also wanted her to be under the program but I thought it would be better if she'll be in a regular school so she will learn to get along with others more. Yes, all of the decisions should be counted most to the parents.

I think no. As far as I know , DEPED has age ceiling , and it's not about how smart the child is to qualify for a higher grade but the child's readiness psychologically...

Your opinion also counts. I just have to wait and see the outcome of the interview and the exams. Fingers crossed.

If you think she can already cope up with the lessons in that grade, then you may enroll her. But at that young age, I would suggest that if only possible, let her go along with children of her age. Why such in a hurry?

I've already called the school, I have asked for schedule so that my daughter will be interviewed and also she is advised to take the exams.

i think no, but you can try to inquire to the school you want to enroll your daughter, because i think that he she was born on june, she will be qualified. That is what i know about the early enrollment of children to grade school. K12 is good for me, and i agree about that because that will produce more quality college graduates. Have a good day! :)

Yes, I will directly inquire from the school, but I have no time yet. It is also the same answer I got when I asked a friend of mine. Schools tend to be stricter on the age of students because of the K12 program. Thanks for your response.
