We moved into a new house in the middle of January. I find we are still not settled really. I still have things in the basement that are packed. I have a cabinet in the kitchen that is waiting to go to it's new home and it has just become a home for clutter. I hate it so much.
Anyone care to share their ideas on getting organized. I have one idea to share. I had so many appointments with 3 kids, there are doctors, dentist, eye appointments, speech therapy, not to mention vet, and other appointments. I was so unorganized there that I was even starting to miss appointments. So I used the inside of one of my cupboard doors. Used one of the kids washable markers and made a grid. Four spots one for each of the three kids and then one marked Other. Now I can tape the card from the doctors office directly under the name. I know some people may use a calendar but with the cost of moving to a new place and three kids I just couldn't see myself paying for a calendar so this works for me. Not to mention I'm one of those people who forget to turn the calendar page until half way through the month. :)
I would love to hear other ideas for getting your home and life organized.

I write all my appointments in a paper (bond paper) and have it pasted at the fridge door.
So everytime I am cooking and doing things in the kitchen it will always remind me of my appointment.
Recently I bought a small white board and there I list all my activities- got time to check every now and then and circle done appointments.

I think the best way to be organized with schedules is by putting them on your smartphone. The moment I get an appointment, I immediately put them with alarm on my phone and have it remind me a day or 2hours or so before the meeting. It's clean, environment-friendly, and you wouldn't need to remember everything.
Further, as for your things that are still in the boxes. Let them stay there. The lesser things you need to clean up after. hehehe.. Just make sure to write or mark what is inside the box so that you will know where to look the time when you need to look for it.
Good luck. Remember, "How do you eat an elephant?" ~ you eat it PIECE BY PIECE. Take it easy mommy, life's not a race. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

I love organizing! Let me give you my tips. Start now! Hehe! Unpacking needs serious attention so you need to devote a schedule for this. Take a weekend or when kids aren't around or let them help you. The more the merrier! Hehe! Kidding a side, your next task is a bit OC-ish but is very helpful. Prepare labeling and packing paraphernalia. You know it already: TRASH, KEEP, SELL. Plus the SELL things can give you money. Got it? Got it. Right. Next! Now, unpack everything and start sorting and then you're ready to place them to their new homes baby! To the kitchen cupboards, file cabinets, and even the basement. Just don't forget to label, alright? Good luck Hugsy25, have fun!

Do make some schedules, and sometimes you may need some others help to fix or organize the the materials in your house. mobile devices have lots of help also in this matter. You can set to it a reminder to do some task.
