and that is obviously seniors are living a lot longer...which is a good statistic...I mean no one told me that but with the Senior Housing having waitlist for 3-5 years is why I came up with that conclusion...Its an inspirational statistic because I am a senior... So I am not finding housing but its a good lesson I've learn...LOL

here the waiting list can be up to 15 years in some cases, - housing shortage. But if you have a disability you are moved to the top of the list.

Not only are they living longer they are doing it in their own homes and not in nursing homes and hospitals. That is inspiring.

I guess I was not really as clear as I meant to be. What I meant, BJ was that more and more seniors need senior housing because they can still live on their own, whether it is a house or apartment or condo,or residential hotel, where ever they are living it is their home and it is not in a medical facility. I think that is inspiring as well. Your apartment is your home and you are looking for a new home in some kind of senior housing, but there is a waiting list because more people are living independent lives longer.

well it didn't matter where they are living, it could be in their own homes or on the moon, my point is that with the list being 3-5 years for anyone else can think about getting on a list in a senior building...is my point.. without me doing this search I would not have be able to conclude my decision...for those who are living in thier own home have no effect on Senior Housing...

Yes, the waiting lists are long for a variety of housing types for seniors. I know that from my own research that I conducted before we realized that a nursing home was going to be the only option for my boyfriend's mother. What sort of community are you looking for? Are you looking to stay in your county, or are you looking a bit farther afield? If you are going outside of that area, you may be able to find something with a waiting time that is more like 18 months-2 years.

IO have read your post and I wondered. I don`t live in the US so I don`t understand. Are senoir houses provided by the government? what can a citizen expect there after a life of working?

I have applied for housing and I am. on a 5 year waiting list to or longer, so I have decided to find my own place, for myself because, waiting on house just won't don it for me, I don't want to live in my niece's, rent house for 5 years no way.

Yes and it is scary. Kids are developing sooner and seniors are living longer. Very scary. Glad you learned this good lesson.
