i eat when i'm bored!

i often encounter this phrase on facebook - "I am not hungry, but i'm bored. therefore, i shall eat!" and this is very true for me!... sometimes, i hate myself for that. nyahahaha. whenever i'm at home and i have done all tasks, i just sit in our living room without doing anything. the thing that would occupy my mind is food. though i'm not hungry, i will search the refrigerator for food. and then eat. is this psychological? maybe i should discipline my self more...

I don't think that we can use the psychological thing as an escape goat for eating too much. Most often than not, we use this reason because there's nothing better to say. Although, I do not deny that I also eat when I'm bored or when there's nothing else to do, I don't blame it all on my brain. I blame it more on my metabolism that never takes a break so that I would stay full for a couple of hours in the least. It might be just a force of habit for you because if there's nothing to do, the first thing that comes to mind is rummage the refrigerator for something to eat. I recommend distracting yourself with other things. Find another hobby, side from eating :-)

Nah..believe it or not, I was in your position a few years back. I worked hard to divert my love of eating when bored. I made myself more aware of what I eat. I still stress eat once in a while but I have more control now. It took time for me to have such discipline. I am still tempted but then, I always keep in my mind that there are other things that I can do aside from just eating.

Yes, I firmly believe that successful weight loss lies on careful planning. When we plan, we have a better idea of how much we are eating and how healthy are we eating. Our goal is not only to look good physically but also to feel good. That's one of the benefits of planning--we feel good because we are going somewhere and we are accomplishing something.

that is a habbit and you need to get over it as soon as possible or you might feel a bit depressed and shameful for sure

These things i always hate to do but i love to eat while doing something that makes me bored. It makes me more happy in eating that is why now i am looks like a drum! :). One of my friend told me to stop eating a lot of foods to makes me more comfortable with my body. But i told her " i would like to enjoy nowadays for eating..!" She was just laughed and said it's up to your if you like to be an elephant size.. I will reduce eating but not this time. There is a time for being sexy again.

It seems to me we have the same issue. Hahaha
Well, anyway we can't deny the food but we can have the discipline to eat what is just enough for us. And this is what I am trying to achieve. To achieve food discipline. To be able to lose weight, I must try my best to be more discipline when it comes to eating.

yes that's true i am also a suspect for getting food from fridge when I'm not doing nothing it's one type of relaxation for me and it gets me really hungry not doing anything that's why people gets fat normally when they stay at home nothing to be busy at except eating a lot and thinking what to eat. ha ha

This remind me of the life in college. I usually stay in the dormitory when class-free. Nothing to do but eating, then I fall into a habit of eating when I am free. No doubt I become very fat that year. So fat so I can not wear my old clothes . The most thing is that I look urgly. This make me discipline myself to eat a normal diet every day. Now I am not slim but not fat too.

Many of us do this - though I don't do FB but mylot but we just eat and we are not hungry. Not a good thing to do though and we should try to discipline ourselves. It is psychological as we are comforting ourselves with food that we do not need

I have tried to just eat fruit if I get cravings but it doesn't work all the time. I am about to sleep and Ihad a mango but am going back for two cackers with a little butter

choosing what food to eat is really difficult. i bet you want something that's cheap, less carbs, and can fill your stomach, right? but diet alone can't make us slimmer, it should be accompanied with exercise. when you eat less, it'll make you thin, unhealthy thin, not slim fit.

I`m sure that many of us have the same problem. Just think that sometimes we ask another person which is his "comfort food". That means that food is not only a way to safisfy hunger, but it also has an ulterior significance. Probably what you should do, if you are worried, is to discover a healthy way of munching when bored. Fiber cereal (dry, with no milk or sugar can be an idea. Another one could be having around carrot sticks.

Hmm.. That's strange! I have heard people saying that they eat more when they are nervous or when they are sad, but I personally never experienced this. There have been times when I have felt nervous, or have gone through a sad phase but I never took eating as a rescue. May be because I had people around to comfort me and so I didn't look up to food as my companion.
Well, in your case may be after a whole lot of work your body feels the need to be charged up and therefore crave for food. If you pick a healthy snack like salad or fruits, I guess you need not to bother about this habit then.

I think that it depends on the person. Some eat more when stressed or sad and others cannot let food pass their lips. I was the eater but my sister did not eat when unhappy

Oh, having high calorie snacks around is fatal as it can spoil any kind of eating. Thank God mango season is in and I am eating a few each day when I long for something sweet. Cut out the snacks and it will make a difference.

When you eat due to emotional stress, experts call it "emotional eating" or "compulsive overeating." Yeah, I agree that discipline helps to become a wiser eater and be healthier too. If you overeat, just do it once a week and try healthier foods. But still, its "over". Too much is always bad. Hope this helps! Good luck ;)

Eating in boring is very common. I do the same inspite knowing that eating much not good. Resulting I am gaining weight. I think my lot would be best option.

i also eat when i get bored this is my way of relieving stress also, but we should control our habit of eating, i admit i get too fat when i'm always eating every time i get bored or finding some food to eat like chips.

I think it is good if you eat nutritious food, I think you should focus to some things. Start to cope your problem and do not believe on that phrase. Maybe, it also influence you to eat.
