I have been in dilemma for the past few months. We just got a new manager for our branch. And it's his responsibility to monitor the production and the branch operation. Part of his job is to resolve the problem left by our previous manager. Their is one big problem that needs to be resolved immediately. My officemate who is in-charge to that specific task tried to reason out just to save her from the company's reprimand. She said she reported the letter through fax machine last December 21, 2011, but the Head Office said they did not receive any until January 2013. Our manager don't know whom to believe. My officemate who happens to be my friend or the Head Office.
I know that their is one way to know who is telling the truth. I went to our telephone provider and ask for a copy of numbers we called last December 21, 2011. I found out that no communication happened between our branch and the Head Office during that day. I myself was surprise to know that my officemate was lying. I kept it a secret for three months. I felt so guilty about not telling the manager. He's been depending my friend ffrom the Head Office without telling the truth.

If this doesn't concern you then stay out of it. If it is something that would jeopardize your job, that's a different story. Your friend obviously made a big mistake so let her live with it. Keep your friendship.

Did you have a conversation with your friend telling her you checked and the number didn't show up on the day she said she sent it? Could she have sent it to the wrong number....in other words, possibly punched in the wrong number by accident?

Good friend and bad employee but if I were in your place I'll do the same thing since I value friendship let the situation founds out the truth instead of getting involve to none of my business part, I'll just do my job and not to get involve that won't affects my job and probably not to interfere since it will not get any credit in any angles if done vice versa

You are there to work, to earn a living and not to make friends or expand your social circle. I am not saying you should not be friendly, if you managed to gain friends, then that's just a bonus to your job. But you have to draw the line where you should be a friend, and when you should be a professional. In this situation, you are not part of the issue. Unless you are called to say something, stay out of it. I'm sure that somebody from the management will also think of checking the call logs and they will find out for themselves the truth.
