That's disgusting!

I just saw a news article that said a severed goat's head was delivered in a package to Wrigley Field yesterday. Wrigley Field is the home of the Chicago Cubs. Apparently in 1945 the Chicago Cubs were cursed by a pub owner when they asked him to leave because his pet goat was bothering other fans. The pub owner then cursed the Cubs to never win another World Series, and the only way to lift the curse is if the Cubs become goat lovers and welcome goats into Wrigley Field. Since then many attempts have been made to break the curse, including letting the pub owner's nephew in with his goat a few times.. but this did not work. Curse or not.. delivering a severed goat's head to the baseball team was purely disgusting. Who would do such a thing? Have you heard any strange or disgusting news lately?

Irrespective of the so called curse, what was the pub owner doing taking his pet goat to a game in the first place?!! The world is full of weird people.

I don't know.. it was back in the 40's. I just assume life and baseball were different back then.

You're right. Maybe goats enjoyed live baseball more back then! These days they prefer to watch it on TV ....

I'm not too much into baseball, so I don't have too much opinion on this goat, but... I would like to comment on some disgusting things that are thrown in hockey rinks during a game which people consider tradition. The most famous of course is the octopus at Detroit. There's a lobster thrown in Boston, a catfish thrown in Nashville, a rubber rat in Florida, and a rubber snake in Phoenix.

Tradition! And then the fans cheer and get hyped up when somebody picks it up and waves it on top of their head.

That is totally disgusting....no one in their right minds would do something like that.....I haven't heard of any disgusting news for a while....in our State paper....or one of them there is a section called news of the weird....but I haven't checked that section out for a while!

Actually, I'd probably look at that section everyday! Weird news is better than the usual junk they report like murders and all that.

That is really, really awful. I didn't know about this until I read your discussion. Is this to curse them for the new season now? What a weird world this is with people doing that. It reminds me of the horse's head in the movie The Godfather....ugh. I don't know how people sleep at night...really.

They've been under this same curse since 1945.. and as far as I know it hasn't broken... but I don't follow baseball anymore. I don't think they know why the person did this.. they have to catch the person first!

I saw that too - it came up on the news stories when I logged onto my emails! I also thought it was quite horrific and the person who did that could seriously not been all there in the head to do something like that!

Ipersonally don't believe in curses. I don't think u can turn the news on ANYTIME & not hear strange things. There are way too many wierdoes around.

Most Chicago Cubs fans believe in this curse.

It could have ben considered a 'joke' by someone (how sick) or perhaps it is someone who believes in superstition. Did the Chicago Cubs ever win the world series? I think that I would go with the fact that it is a sick joke by someone and it is certainly disgusting and horrible. No, I have not heard of anything like this recently

The Cubs haven't won a World Series in over 100 years.
