I'm really going to lose weight this time!

I'm determined to lose weight this time. I'm eating less, eating healthier, drinking lots of more water. My main focus is being healthier, and more active. I want to lose weight though, and I am determined to do it this time. I cannot wait to shed the pounds and see everyone's reaction. Trying to stay motivated is only half the battle. Keeping up with the "program" of losing weight is the other battle. I am currently watching how much I eat, and learning how much is healthy. I'm also learning what foods are unhealthy and healthy to eat. I know I can do this, I will just have to be patient.

Good for you! If you stick with it, the weight will come off and once it starts coming off it's much easier to keep up with your plan.

Thanks. I think it does get easier with time. At least eating healthier does, and exercising and being more active. When you are at a certain weight it is hard to be active, which makes it hard to lose weight. Sometimes the first few pounds can be the hardest to lose. Then I know other times the first few pounds are the easiest and it gets harder with time to keep losing. I will stick with it this time and I will lose the weight. There is no trying, only doing this time around!

I wish I had the same determination as yours, I want to lose weight but every time I do this, my laziness overtake me. I just can't help be frustrated. I had try lessening my eating habit, doing some exercises. But after a week I will eventually be tempted especially to delicious food and forget my exercise. I am tired already, is there no hope for me my friend? What can I do for my situation? I need some expert advise. I really need to lose weigh, the ideal weigh for my age. Do you have any tips for me?

Make small changes instead of big changes. It will help in the long run. For example if you try to exercise everyday you will get discouraged and quit. Then you will not work out at all. If you start exercising one to three times a week you will keep up with it longer hopefully. You might want to create a program or plan for yourself and try to stick with it. Eat healthy. A lot of people think that exercising is the way to lose weight. Most people lose weight by eating healthy. Exercising is very helpful, and helps our bodies but to really lose the weight and keep it off you should try to eat healthier. Here again make small changes. Start by eating some fruit and cutting back on soda, rather than cutting soda out altogether and eating only healthy. Starting small can make you feel like it will take you a long time but it will be worth it. You will keep your motivation, and will power, and determination longer than you would have before. Don't beat yourself up, it's okay to have mistakes. I used to do what you do all the time. I have struggled with my weight for almost 9 years now. These are just some tips that I can think of. Hope this helps you.

That is good to hear you don't have any problems exercising. I tend to forget or tell myself I am too busy. I know those are just excuses and I have started to exercise on a regular basis. I still have my slip ups and forget a day here and there, but generally do a lot better about exercising than I have in the past. It really does help with your mood and to burn off those unwanted calories. Yes, I understand about the food. Most of the healthy food doesn't taste good. A lot of the unhealthy food taste great. Try to find foods that you enjoy and like that are healthy for you as well. You can also try to find healthy alternatives to foods that you like that are unhealthy. Good luck.

I really don't have a problem about exercising, There were days when I do running 2 twice a week or more. But the real problem is eating. I just can't help myself, I really get tempted easily especially if my friends would treat me. I just can't say I am on diet or they will surely get mad on me. I will try my best on what you said, starting small is the key for me. Hopefully I can have the determination.

Yeah I am going to start walking, and being more active. I want to start an exercise regimen and stick with it as well. I'm having a little difficulty with this but I will keep trying. Starting is only half the battle, keeping up with it is the rest.

You can do it!! Sounds like you have a pretty goo handle on your weight loss program. Remember to lose weight for yourself and for your own self worth and not for the reaction of other people. Focus on how much healthier you will be, how you will be able to run up the stairs without huffing and puffing, how much smarter you are with your food choices, and how you are going to live a long healthy life to see your great great grandchildren.

Those are all the good reasons to lose weight and reasons why I want to. People's reactions and how I look are just added bonuses. The main reason is to be healthy, and when you have the mindset that you want to be healthy it actually becomes easier to lose weight.

I am trying to lose weight and be healthier myself. The past few days have been salads and smoothies for breakfast lunch and dinner, all except for two times. Once I had hotdogs and then last night I had tuna helper with garlic toast. My strategy is smoothies and salads for right now.

It's important to have different foods. It can get boring eating the same foods over and over. Good luck!

A person who really wants to lose weight usually wants to keep it off. You can be motivated and very serious about losing but unless you really make some lifestyle changes the loss won't last for long. Drinking alot of water is very important especially if you are exercising hard. You don't want to get dehydrated. Changing your portions is another important thing to think about. Smaller plates can give you the illusion that you are actually eating more when you are eating smaller portions. And eating five to six small meals a day keeps your metabolism going. One last thing is to change around your schedule every few weeks and this will help you get past plateaus which can be very frustrating. Good luck to you!

In the past I used to lose weight, only to pack it back on again. I cannot count the times I would lose weight only to gain it right back. This time, I am more focused on the changes in my lifestyle. I want to keep it off as well, not only lose it. I don't want to gain it back, not this time. I am eating smaller portions but throughout the day. Eating healthier compared to what I was eating. I am drinking a lot of water throughout the day as well. Thank you!

The word 'dieting' should be changed to 'lifestyle change' because unless you make some commitment to lifestyle changes as soon as you quit dieting you gain it all back. Lifestyle changes such as eating better, more exercise, changing how we do things, etc. are very important to a person who seriously wants to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF. Another thing too is if you have emotional eating disorders. These need to be addressed before weight can be kept off for any period of time. Sounds like you are making some great changes. Just don't expect fast weight loss and don't get frustrated if you reach a plateau. It's normal. When you go shopping for food keep in mind that the less processed the food is the better it is for you. Do you know about labels?

Hi o2bnocn, I think the key to losing weight is all in your mind i.e. willpower. You must be so motivated and committed to the program that you will not give up halfway. It'll be tough. Remember when the going gets tough the tough gets going. Are you tough enough? Have a nice day.

Action speaks louder than just talking. You have started doing something about your weight, that's most important. Keep going until you achieve your goal to be slim and fit. You are right, it's tough to stay motivated. Remember the saying "when the going gets tough, the tough gets going". You can do it and I wish you all the best :)

That is a very good saying and relates well to this. Yes actions do speak a lot louder than words. Sitting here saying I am going to do this does nothing unless I follow through with it. I plan to though. Thank you.

Nice that's a great decision that needs a lot of discipline and consistency which is the hardest part but it seems your determined and eager, Goodluck! I hope I have the same attitude for losing weight ;)

Hi O2bnocn You can do anything you set your mind too. It sounds to me like you are doing everything the right way. Lots of water is very important and eating very healthy too. I am not sure if you like to walk but even walking 10 minutes a day will help you as well it sounds simple but it really does help. Best of luck to you.

Yes, walking as already helped me. I am able to exercise a lot more easier now that I have started to walk. I am eating a lot healthier. I am also drinking a lot more water than soda. I only drink about one cup of soda a day if I even allow myself that. Yet I am not overdoing it at the same time, I am doing it healthy.

With your determination, you will certainly lose weight. It's good to hear that you're not just aiming to look slim by losing those unwanted pounds. Yes, just be disciplined in your diet of healthy foods as well. In some cases, you really don't need to focus on the weight loss. If your choice of food is correct, you will just notice that the fats go off naturally. Focus on being and maintaining a healthy diet and you'll see progress in your overall well-being.

Great! It's awesome to hear how motivated you really are. I hope you will be able to stick with it and really lose a few pounds. If you are really interested in losing weight, may I suggest a couple books for you? I noticed that you mentioned that you are slowly learning what foods are unhealthy and what foods are. A great book both me and my brother have read on this is called the 7th Zone. It offers really great insight on a healthy balanced diet, that can help you lose weight while still sustaining yourself with adequate nutrition.

Patience is a good thing in something like this. Eat healthy and eat the proper portions, don't cut yourself short. Exercise a good amount, but don't over do it. It takes time to lose weight the healthy way, but it'll be worth it. Good luck in your journey:-)

Yes I agree. It is unhealthy to lose weight very fast or in a unhealthy way. You should only lose so much at a time, and at a steady pace. Over exercising is bad as well, but I want to be active at the same time. Thanks for your suggestions. I will do this as healthy as possible.

Go for gold! Congratulations because you've finally started, that's the most crucial part you know. The motivation and will power to do it tests your persistence and the level of seriousness you're giving to this "project". Just a tip, try to be creative and level up whenever you're ready so you won't get bored of the same routine and you'll have a concrete measurement of your level. Good luck o2bnocn! ;)

That is a very good tip. I do tend to get bored easily. With food and exercise. I am trying to use different exercises and eat different healthy foods so that I don't get bored. When I am bored I tend to get lazy, not be active, and eat unhealthy.
