Would you call the cops?

Recently my neighbors have been blaring music. At first it didn't bother me, but now I am frustrated. It happens a lot and it is so loud that I can hear it inside of my house. I even bought ear plugs to put in while studying or when I want or need it to be quiet inside of the house. Occasionally it is only for a few minutes that they play the music, but then other days it goes on for hours and hours. I'm surprised that someone else in the neighborhood hasn't called the cops already.

Have you tried talking to them? Do you or someone in your home know them? Id try that before trying the cops...

I agree. First try talking to them or if you'll have a mutual friend send him/her to talk to them. If they still won't budge, try the cops.

If she can solve the problem without the cops, might be alot better for her.

No, We speak a different language so it would be hard to communicate.

If nobody has done it yet and you still think that it is annoying the whole neighborhood because of it happening all the time, then take the initial step. I am sure that a lot of your neighbors will follow you.

i had to put up with this loud mexican music that my ex-neighbors were blaring from early in the morning. it really annoyed the s&^% out of me. good thing is that they moved and the block is quiet. i wanted to call the cops on them a million times, because we live in a house. there is no apartment manager to call. i think she knew well that there was going to be no one else but the cops to call and that no one would want to be bothered with the cops. so, she blared her music on purpose and with malice. i hate when they do that. i called it being a sound bully. i hope you get rid of your problem as easy as i get rid of mine.

I hope it quits soon. Maybe another neighbor will talk to them because we speak different languages. or maybe another neighbor will call the cops. I don't want any violence. I just want the music to stop also. By the way, they also play the Mexican music you are talking about and it is very annoying!

Oh last summer it was blaring all the time and I hated it. I started going outside and yelling right from the porch that they needed to turn the crap down. They may or may not have heard me, but then I called the neighbors and complained. It was actually the neighbor's grandson and his friend's doing it. After that it stopped for awhile. I did call the cops once but here they can't really do anything unless it's happening right then. I'd call the cops if I were you though.

Thanks. I will think about it. It is very annoying, especially when it is so loud that I can hear it inside. It would be a little different if I was outside, and close to their house. Being inside and trying to study while having to listen to that type of music blaring, really gets on my nerves. I also cannot concentrate when it happens.

I can never understand why some people have to listen to their music or song in such a manner, blasting their jukebox or speaker volume to the max. so that everyone in the neighborhood can hear it too. It is either they have hearing problem or they just selfish and inconsiderate people by nature. I am surprised too no one in your neighborhood call the cop already when it go on hour after hour, may be it is a day time so nobody feel bother by it, they just get away from their own house for hours to avoid the noises, some people are just not interested to confront their rude neighbor by getting police involve, they don't want to deal with rude and potential trouble later with neighbor like this. calling cop to stop such type of inconsiderate neighbor can easily escalate into violent confrontation after the cop left.

I don't know these neighbors very well at all. To make matters worse, they are a different ethnic culture than me. If it was only once or twice, I wouldn't even be bothered by it at all. If it happened occasionally It would annoy me. They keep doing it though, and it really started to get on my nerves. I haven't done anything yet. I'm afraid of what will happen afterwards also. I don't want to cause any troubles between my neighbors and I. I also don't want to cause problems for our community. Thanks for your response.

Most of the neighbors who play their music through the roof are usually hooligans and selfish people, i am not surprised they will come after you once the cop had left, i personally had witnessed such type of people in action, they usually retaliated with violence threat on the neighbor who was disturbed and called the cop on them. You are absolutely right, if you unfortunately live with some people who like to play their 'Monkey' or 'Mexican' or 'Rap' music loud for many hours in a quiet neighborhood, you will develop hatred on having a neighbor. I don't blame you at all. These type of neighbors don't appreciate the value of a peaceful neighborhood and community. Sometime it is because of cultural background, life style and selfish nature. I also hate these type of people living next to me, but not all neighbors.

I think if that were to happen a lot i would. It is disturbing the peace as well as it shouldn't be at certain times in the evening. People need to be more respectful.

I have read your answers and I see there is a problem as they speak another language. Maybe if you discover what language they speak, you could get someone to translate politely that you cannot study with the music so loud. If that doesn`r work, then I`d call the cops, not before.

I would definitely try talking to them before calling the cops. I would only call the cops if I thought someone was in danger (spousal abuse) or something similar to that and you don't want to be physically involved in the situation.

Have you tried to complain to your landlord? If not I would. You have to live there too so you are allowed to complain if the music is to loud. Also I was told that if a tenant is playing loud music after eleven o' clock that you have the right to call the police. I had to deal with tenants like that once before. They were a bunch of partying college kids. I had to get up for work the next day at like 6am but I couldn't sleep because of the music. Finally I got fed out & called the police. The music was shut off after they arrived.

Sorry you had to go through that. Yeah It is very aggravating when I am trying to study. Plus I know other people around me that are annoyed by it as well. Hopefully we can come up to some type of solution without any type of violence or anything. I don't want them to get mad and cause a fight with anyone.
