Does counting calories really work?

I signed up for a website where I can count my calories and according to the plan I will be able to lose weight. It is difficult at times because I don't know exactly how many calories are in something so this website helps a lot. Even on the website though there are occasionally times when I don't know what to chose. For instance this morning I ate a banana, and when I logged it it asked me how big the banana was. When I logged an orange it asked if it was a medium. So it is really hard to get an exact amount of calories that I consume each day. If nothing else, it is making me conscious of what and how much I eat.

yes it may if you really follows it. but if you sleep too much and very lazy it will not work.

It does work for me. It makes me think twice about eating a certain food after knowing how many calories it got and how long will I need to work out to burn the extra calories. It is also good way to make sure that I am getting the exercise that I need as the calorie counter that I have also measures the calories spent, even the glasses of water that I have drank on a daily basis.

I agree with you. I think twice about what I eat, and the portions I eat. In the past I would think "What's this one slice of pizza gonna do"? Then I would eat another and another, then completely go off of my diet. Now, I am eating healthier and making wiser and healthier decisions.

Not for me it didn't. Whenever I counted calories try as I might I could not stay within the allotted calorie amount that you were allowed per day. This was very discouraging to me so eventually I just dropped the diet altogether because I just couldn't stop myself from going over the limit in calories that I was allowed to have.

I understand. The first day I went way over. The second day I was under. Today I am doing alright, but I ate fast food so I am cutting it really close. Will try and work out some today as well to help burn off those calories. Fast food adds a lot of calories and no wonder it is so unhealthy for us.

Yes it works. The less calories you consume the more weight you will lose overtime. It is hard to keep track but it does make you more aware of what you are eating. I'm doing the same thing right now, my husband and I want to lose 10 pounds or so. Good luck to you!

Thanks. Yeah I am definitely more aware of what I am eating, and how much I am eating. I think this will help in learning how much to eat, and portion control. I will keep trying because I think this might help and actually work. If nothing else, it will help me make better eating decisions to be healthier.

I heard that we lose or gain 1 kg (2,2 pounds) at every 3500 calories consumed or accumulated. It may happen in days or months. I never verified this theory, but I think it deserves a chance. It makes weight so much easily to control.
