Okay so I have an Amazon account but haven't actually ordered anything from there yet. They say shipping is free for orders over $25. But now I looked up an item and it was lets say $47 and it gave me other options for it. So I found it for $27 but it ships from California. So do I have to pay shipping on this one? Am I going to be dinged when it comes through customs? Even though I ordered it through Amazon.ca?
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I hear it is a great site but I'm just a little confused.

They say shipping inside your country is free if you purchase anything above $25 but if it is the international shipping then you will have to pay duties, taxes, and applicable customs brokerage fees separate from the merchandise cost.So yes you will be paying these fees upon receipt of your shipment.

How I love amazon.ca I do the majority of my Christmas shopping every year through the site because I find it so efficient and convenient. You are correct that you will have to pay the shipping on some items... i.e., those that are not fulfilled directly by amazon.ca -- as you've probably seen, they have a marketplace of sellers. If you are looking at an item, one of the first things you might see, at the top of the page, is the fact that it is "eligible for free shipping." I always look for those first because I never want to pay shipping if I don't absolutely have to. There are no surprises though... when you go to your shopping cart, you can see your total before confirming your order... so, if you see shipping charges, you know that there might be an item (or a few) that you want to re-source so you can get them direct from amazon.ca
