It was sometime back before the craze of social networking sites that work used to be work and play used to be play! But with all the smartphones and tablets having such easy access to all these social networking sites we end up wasting soo much of our productive time!! Is it all worth it? Is wasting time like this worth it? Is it really making us Social?

It depends. If you use it to chat to friends and find out what is happening, then it is a time waster. However, if you are at work, and you are facebooking a site that has to do with your work, then it is not wasting time. And I suppose your employer would give you permission to join those sites. For instance if you were in the restaurant business, you cold join Gordon Ramsay's site because maybe your employer is looking for a restaurant type of dishes.

No its not worth it,its better to use that time in doing something constructive.Actually social networking sites are not meant for that, they are just another means to connect and talk with your friends and have fun.If people spend lot of time there then it their mistake.Best wishes.

I think it depends on for what purpose we are using these social networking sites for. Now days people have misunderstood the entire concept of social networking. And they think that these sites are for passing time, or just flirting around with anyone and everyone or just play games and nothing else. But these sites are more than that. I normally use my social networking accounts for my work purpose, meeting me old and far distant friends and also to pass my time when i am bored. But it completely depends on us how we are making use of the opportunities. Everything in excess leads to danger.

You might see it that way but I think people do it themselves. Before this tv showed up and still many people waste a lot of time in front of it (while not watching the commercials or being annoyed). So it's up to us how long we sit in front of the tv or behind our computers.. many of us are bored too with a computer. It's amazing how many people write they are.

Well, not for me I guess. I may be participating with my social networking sites for business purposes. I consider facebook and twitter as good sources of views for my articles.
It all depends on how we use these sites. Of course those people who just stay to enjoy are doing some good things for us who use these sites for other purpose.
Have a wonderful day!

Well, when I was still new to Facebook I used to spend a lot of time reading the posts of my friends and playing games, but I soon grew bored. Now, I seldom log in to Facebook and when I do, I only stay for about five to ten minutes, then I log out. I only log in to facebook if I need to communicate with someone, or if there's something that's in my mind that I want to share. I log in to mylot more than I log in to facebook nowadays, and nope, I don't consider myLot unproductive. I'd rather go to myLot than play video games all day (Since it's summer here where I live).

Hi, it depends on what you do with it. Gossiping and playing games are waste of time for me but it may not be so for someone else. I still prefer to spend time with people face to face and not spending too much time communicating online. However, it is a good tool to stay in touch. As long as we do not let this affect our daily lives, I think it is fine to be on a social network.

In my own experience, well I can say Yes -- it is a waste of time. That is why every time I do my work online, I make sure that my FB is logged out so that I won't be tempted to check into the news feed. It's been effective for me.
