With vegetables, there certainly isn't any issue about being able to consume the daily dose for health since they are quite abundant not to mention affordable. However, it is a different thing when it comes to fruits. Bananas are the most affordable fruits in the market and the rest are downright expensive especially the seasonal fruits. Much as traditional families want to put fruits on their table for a healthy diet, they can't easily do so because of the expense. Even the local fruits are now beyond reach like mangoes, chico and watermelon. Lucky for those who have their own fruit trees as they can enjoy the abundant supply of fruits all year round.

True enough. Mangoes are really expensive right now. I've had a lot of watermelons though. Helps in this hot weather. I have a papaya tree but I don't like papaya.

I try to eat a few fruits and veggies a day but I don't always do it. During the hot weather I tend to eat more fruit as I have fruit salads nice and fresh, when it's cold I tend to not want them as much. That's when veggies come in but I don't always eat them. I had some yesterday at least, that's something

Oh well we do make a veggie soup at times but I'll eat pasta fair bit. The fruit I do need to add it to things so I at least get some. I had a banana with my breakfast today. Lunch I'll have leftover roasted veggies and dinner will be pasta

What do you eat then? Cultivate this habit. It will benefit you for sure.
You can try vegetable soups if you don't like to eat them as whole.
If I get tired of eating a fruit, I combine it with cream or ice-cream. Tastes good.

I do eat 5 fruits and veggies a day. This isn't really hard, as have some Vegetable Soup and its easy. Its a great way to start my lunch time and very filling. One of my friends likes to have a Vegetable Juice homemade at breakfast. She says its filling and she doesn't get that low feeling during the day, so doesn't need a snack like me. I'll admit have considered using my blender in the morning more often. I like homemade Tomato Juice.

That's great. Gluten free, homemade soups are really healthy.
Soup for breakfast sounds interesting. Maybe I'll give it a go very soon.

I eat five or more different veggies only when I make sauteed veggies (stir fried). Most of the time I don`t eat more than 3 kinds of veggies, with one dominant one, be it lettuce, chard or tomato. As for fruits, I eat a lot of fruits in Summer, but I mostly eat bananas and oranges in Winter with an occational roasted apple.

I eat sliced cucumber and tomatoes with a little bit of salt and pepper as a side dish during dinner.
I eat a banana everyday and recently, mangoes too. Since the season of mango is here.

to be honest, I do not really like eating fruits or vegetables every day. within a week I only eat few vegetables and fruits, I prefer to choose meat and fish as my favorite foods every day and drink plenty of mineral water. it can keep me keep fit condition. and I still do not forget to exercise in the morning every day.

The difference may be between us, but the goal is still a healthy mind and body.

I love white meat and fish too but I have them hardly once or twice a week.
I get most of my fiber intake from fruits and green veggies.
And yes, plenty of water and exercise goes a long way.

i do sometimes, but i don't think its necessary. just getting a good amount of antioxidants everyday is good enough even if one just eats one type of fruit. i personally like berries since it can help clear the arteries which can keep me from heart attacks or strokes.

My hubby is a lifelong Veggie so eating 5 in one meal, even isn't difficult, but if you don't like fruit/veg it can be a trial, so do what you're comfy with...don't sweat it, do what you can..
