Yeah I notice that too. It seems to be the trend these days even in public speeches. It's cheesy but amusing. Miriam Defensor Santiago does a very good job at dishing out witty pick up lines sometimes even in her Twitter account.

Pickup lines certainly makes a speech more interesting, Not all speakers are able to get the attention of the crowd especially if they are not as competent as Miriam Santiago. Adding pickup lines on the otherwise boring speech can perk up the attention of the listeners. Speakers can certainly learn a thing or two from Miriam Santiago who is a favorite guest speaker not only in school functions but important events not only due to her wit but the pickup lines and political commentaries.

Hi there!
Yes, I have noticed that too and it is effective in getting the attention of the audience. I think that it is good when speakers go with what is "in". Speakers should always observe and adjust to the kind of audience that he or she has. This will help the speaker be more effective.

They have found out a way to liven up the program. And that is really a good way of catching the attention of the audience.

I guess it is because to make the program more alive and keep the audience entertained. I really don't like attending program who doesn't even give importance to their audience. So, whenever there's program or activity, we must get those people to manage it well and can make the audience be happy!

They can really intensify the excitement of the crowd specially when someone prominent will be delivering those pick-up lines, like what senator miriam defensor santiago is doing. Though its a form of joke, still it has a moving and substantial thought that we all can ponder into.
