For some, week ends are just another two days in the week with no special plans. But there are many who line up activities that break the monotony of their life. For the retired every day is a week end as that is how they spend their days doing things that give them joy.
How do you go about planning your week ends. Please share.

When I was a kid, weekends would mean having time with the family to go out and be in different places.
Now that I have my own family, weekends is mostly spent at home, kids helping me out with cleaning and fixing things.

Not fair jenny! You enjoyed when you were a kid but your kids spend week ends helping you around. Have I understood you correctly?

Yup! You got me right. And it is because my husband is not like my parents. He was brought up the WEIRD way and doing things against his will means another argument. And I am just so tired of going through it over and over. So I just let my kids come with my parents instead.

For the past few years weekend is special for me because that is when my son comes home. We all look forward to this and I plan special food items .Otherwise I don’t make plans to go out and every day is the same for me. We look forward to watching some good movies on television but films on television are hopeless during weekends on many occasions.

Does your son come with his family in tow? What better way than spending time with your loved one. That adds a spring in your step surely to catch up with chores which otherwise would look like a loadful of work!

Weekends are my days to work, lol. I have my Childcare Business that I only do on the weekends most of the time so my weekends are busy! I am off during the week, kind of backwards from most people...

I think what you are doing during weekends is not a job but your passion - a swell way to earn.

I availed of the optional retirement offered by the company I used to work for. At first, I was skeptical about retiring not knowing what to do with my time, however, I did not have much choice since I was no longer happy with the management. I have always led a busy life at the office and I am still young for a lethargic life. Good thing that I learned about online jobs. Now I am as busy as ever working through the week including Sundays and holidays. I got lucky I made the right decision. Now my previous co-employees are thinking along the same lines of early retirement so as to be able to enjoy a happier and more convenient process of earning through the net.

So your week ends are the same as any other day which you use to earn online. As long as you are enjoying this activity nothing like it. But once in a way an outing should be fine, I suppose?

One thing good about online jobs is being able to work according to your own hours. If I want to go to the mall I can do so even on a working day and do the job at night. If I need to be out for a day or two, I simply provide advance notice so that schedules can be arranged without sacrificing the deadlines for the work orders.

Weekends for me is basically a leap from your working days… in my take, weekends is a Family day a time wherein we bond with my family and also go to church on Sundays.
I love the weekends most especially having Saturday night out with friends and having Sunday dinner with me family.

That is a perfect week end I could say. That's what everyone should be doing. Bonding is so necessary exchanging news and views about what happened and did not happen in the week that was!

Could it just be that myLot is a factor that dissuade many from organising outings? I get tempted to stay put and myLot away keeping everything else at bay!

Weekends are just regular days for me, I really don't stay at home. During Saturdays, I work for 3 hours, then I visit my girlfriend at her house or sometimes I go with my friends on a hang-out or play computer games. Sometimes I play some sports such as badminton or we do some running.
During Sundays, I have some obligation and responsibilities in my religion. I go to church, then after that we have some meetings or attend some religious activities. It's good to be a part of it, especially if you share it with the children. Currently we are having our Christian Life Program (CLP), its 12 Sunday seminar and orientation about how God inspires us in our daily lives.

You could say that my friend, I always make myself busy but I never forget to have time for my family, friends and to our God.
The CLP (Christian Life Program) - is a 12 sunday program of CFC - Singles for Christ of the our church. It's main goal is to evangelize and invite more singles to see and experienced the love, beauty, knowledge, forgiveness, sufferings and relationship to the Lord God and he's son Jesus Christ. This is program by the Roman Catholic Church in our country. We believe we are all Christian - because without "Christ" I am Nothing...

You seem to be quite a busy body. I am impressed with your church activity. What exactly is this CLP. Are they prayer sessions or meetings where each of you interact with the other.

If writing is your passion then there cannot be a better activity than this although it may seem to be hard work. There are very few who have their job as their passion.

I have a very busy weekday, having two full-time jobs. And I have a little time to breathe come weekend. I love weekends for that "me" time and doing all sorts of things I like to do, and also things I need to do. But, then, there are times that I have very busy weekends as when I travel with friends, or have some outdoor activities like going to the beach or climbing mountains, or just going home to my parents' is already a busy weekend for me.

Weekends are for keeping busy doing what one enjoys and you have a whole list of things that will keep you merrily on your toes. I have a few friends and extended family living in the US and they too have adopted this culture of getting out and enoying their week ends. I was there once and one of my relatives took me to a place where I did some painting on a ceramic plate which they later brought down when they visited me! Here is the image of that plate. Very childish but that was my first attempt at painting!

That is so cool! If only I had more time, there are lots and lots and lots of things I want to do. I'm looking forward to the day I give up one job and concentrate on just one so that I'll have more things to do the things I want to do.

Days going fast and I also don't have any plans in the week cuz I need to go for the interviews. So I have to handle the boring days. Actually I'm expecting to have holidays with friends hang out and have fun together. I consider this is part of my spare life. Otherwise i'll spend some time for my own interests.lol to cultivate some hobbies.

Hi,
I am retired person so all days are same for me. But my son is doing job but so we can enjoy weekends in the home only. Because my wife is disabled and she can not go out of the house. Sometimes my son enjoys week ends with his friends and I also can enjoy weekends with my friends.

That's the way to go. Rather than worry about what your wife is going through twenty four hours of the day having a diversion is essential for one's well being.

My boyfriend works full time and goes to night school, so the only time that we have together really is during the weekends so I almost always spend my weekends with him. We used to just stay in and relax and watch television or shows online, but we started to get bored with that and also we were starting to get fat :p So about 3 weeks ago, we bought a metal detector and now we go walking along the river trying to find treasure :) Its good exercise and its also a lot of fun

After the work week, weekends used to be about cleaning, grocery shopping, errands and then exhaustion. I've tried somewhat successfully to include this stuff after work during the week. And if not, to let go of the compulsion to get everything handled on the weekend - maybe NOT wash the floor or not clean.
Today I am painting the living room. However, I really want to do this and am looking forward to the results.

As they say 'change of work is rest'. Doing something different on weekends, even if it is work if you enjoy doing it nothing else matters, provided you do not over do it.
Hope you will like what you are painting.

Hi allknowing,
I had opted for early retirement and do not how to spend my free time earlier. However, after someone introduced MyLot to me I began to feel that my time is fully occupied .
One thing for sure is that I really enjoy being here as I came to know members here are loving, helpful and all are my great friends who always keep me occupied here. So, everyday is the same for me as what you have shared .
Except for this Saturday night, my family and I will be having a good time of buffet dinner together. We had two family members having their birthday this month. We do not celebrate birthdays but we take the opportunity to have dinner together to strengthen the family bonds

What more can one ask for. Your outings I would say are the icing on the cake and the cake is ofcourse myLot! But I must say we all need to do this occasionally - eating out surrounded by a lovely ambiance which a restaurant often provides.
