The number of people believing and disbelieving in Extraterrestrial intelligent life forms increased so much lately (maybe because of Ancient Aliens, Zacharias Snitch, Erich von Däniken or could be Independence Day, Star Wars, Star Trek kind of movies' 'fault'? ) and I love reading about both arguments, both sides: believers, the Mulders and the skeptics, the Scullys. But if they exist (there are some strange 9 inch body found, a rare and non-terrestrial implant found on a man, great elongated skuls) why do governments hide it?
Nick Pope was UK's minister of defense and says they cataloged UFO encounters by air craft pilots for 20 years, it seems Mexico, Turkey and India are very open about UFOS and ETs while may other countries treat it as fiction.
The point is if they exist what reasons governments would have to hide it?

I believe with 99.99% certainty that intelligent aliens exist. I do not know whether any have ever visited Earth before, or if any have the ability to do so, or if any are even as advanced as us, but the odds that there AREN'T other intelligent beings in our hugely vast universe is smaller than the odds of winning the lottery twice in a row.
It would be interesting to see if there are aliens that could visit us, and if any have. And if they have, how they did it.

I know, it is interesting to think about. The chances that aliens have visited us are a lot lower than the other odds though, but it is still possible with all the other potentially intelligent species in our vast universe.
Especially when you consider that a lot of these species probably came into existence millions of years before us, with how many planets there are closer to the center of our universe compared to us.

I think if you take into consideration how huge the universe is compared to our little planet it would be silly to think that we are the only living life form,as to why the governments would cover it up,it would serve the one's in power to be ahead of us as they could use this wisdom to stay powerful.

Yes! Although in this subject we still don't have a leader expert in this field that could be the best word about a subject like for example we have Stephen Hawkings in physics.
I think one argument would be that life already exist on Earth so life can be created in planets, another thing that I wonder about is that there are now thousands of abductions and encounters reports so even if half or even most of these people were lying, I don't think all of them would be. It's just not possible thousands of people create a story for no gain at all, even if some might be seeking:
Attention
Money
Fame
To be known for later to publish a book
To sell a story to became the script for a TV Series or Movie
...it's just not logical that ALL of them would be after some opportunity like that or attention.

There are a lot of people within this field who have come forward but most are attacked or ridiculed, one of the men to really get people thinking was William Cooper he's all over Youtube but in the end they destroyed his image and made him to be something he wasn't,My eyes are tired now so that's my last comment good night.

The more scientific research done in space proves time and time again that we don't even have a clue as to exactly how big the universe is, let alone if any other life forms are out there. Its just arrogant to believe we could be the only form of intelligent life anywhere.
There could be more than one reason to hide it from the public. Maybe they think it would bring about world spread panic. Maybe they want to hoard any and all information and alien objects to themselves for their own personal uses....the number of reasons could go on and on. But I for one believe that there are other intelligent life forms out there.

Hi katie: The discussion is way too long. I share with the people that believe in aliens the idea that there's a big possibility that other species exist out of our planet but at the same time I think there are not enough proofs at the moment to demonstrate their theory. And I am not one of these persons that believe in conspiracy theories. I mean, if we are going to create conspiracy theories we can't discuss because we'd be using the excuse that there are no solid proofs because they are all covered.

Hi,
For the very reason that such encounters are unfounded. Alright count me in as one of the skeptics, I do base my judgement on real facts. Until I can find an exhaustive and scientific study to establish the presence of UFO and extraterrestrials beings, or get to see them face to face, I shall treat every one of as pure fiction, conjecture or conspiracy theories. Basing a judgement on a blurry image or unexplained phenomena makes one a subject to reasonable doubt of its veracity and once doubt exists, no real verdict could be produced that can be relied upon to establish our baseline of truth and the reality of the aforementioned subject.
