My Vishu Dream

India
April 14, 2013 1:16am CST
Hi Friends, Today is the mark of our New year. "Our" means "All people from Kerala" (a state in India). People celebrate and have loads of fun with crackers just like Deepavali(another festival of India). Everyone wakes up for "Vishu kani", a ritual wherein people wake up without opening their eyes, go to their temple room of house and pray to God. It is believed that on this day, we should first see God to start our day and hence, the practice. Also, elders give younger ones of their family some cash amount, not much, but as a pocket money. Lol. I won't elaborate on the actual story of this new year here as this discussion is not meant for that. We did not celebrate this day much, as compared to those past years. Today i woke up late about 10am because this was the only day (Sunday) that i get to sleep calmly..haha.. So mom also let me sleep. I had a dream. A nice dream this day. I met my dad. I was so happy i cannot explain it. We had a get together at our house, only our family members..Mom,dad,sis and me. And in my dream too, i somewhat knew that dad would come this day to meet us. Although i do not remember much about this dream, but i do remember saying to him, "Dad, let's all go to pav-bhaji center today." When i was a kid, dad used to take us for dinner to this wonderful restaurant. They served Pav-Bhajis, hot and tasty. I remember those days very well. And that's why i wanted to treat my family to the same restaurant..with my salary. I wanted to see them happy. Especially dad. Since he left us when I was in 7th standard..i being 12-13 yrs of age at that time. He could not see me being a responsible man but i wish he saw me from the Heavens. Love you Mom, Dad, Sis and everyone else who loves us. Once again, happy vishu to all. Thanks for coming Dad. Miss you a lot.

No i was not smiling. I was in a trance because i could not understand whether what just happened was real or not. It was painful to know the truth.

Hope you enjoyed "Vishu" with family and "Malayalee" friends at Pune. You are very sentimental in the discussion with memories of your father. I can understand it.
