Just tell him that you're flattered that he likes you and that you care about him, too. But, also tell him that you see him as a friend and a brother. Tell him that you don't want to lose him as a friend as well. The rejection may still hurt him, but it's better to be honest than to lead him on. Have an open discussion with him about it.

I'm not really good with being gentle with words.
Just tell him how you truly feel. Don't give him false expectations. If you are gonna break his heart, might as well do it as soon as possible so he won't suffer more.

Just talk to him and tell him that he is just a brother to you.
I know it's not easy but you need to tell him so he won't expect more from you.
I am sure he will be hurt, but assure him that the friendship won't change and you will remain his good friend.

Of course there is a right way to reject someone. You always have to be careful when you tell someone that you are not available. If he knows that you do not have a boyfriend you will have to be tactful. Whatever means you use, you have to be sensitive and do it in a way that does not hurt. Tell him you will always be friends until he decides not to have the friendship anymore. These kinds of goodbyes are to be sensitively done.

You are the one who knows this person personally. What i mean is that you are the only one who can figure out how to reject him without insulting his feelings. If he is a sensitive person, you have to be very very careful but you have to tell him so he won't expect. Make the move right now because the more you delay it, the more it is going to be difficult.
But if you know that this person can understand then there will be no problem because he knows well how to handle the blow. Rejection no matter how nice you put it is still rejection. So better know the person well before you choose the right move of telling him the truth.
