whenever we go to the dentist and after doctor checked our tooth, they always give us an advice about it. but do we have to brush our teeth exactly 3 minutes? is it a must? who decide it? by the we all work hard and sometimes we are really busy with other things and in a hurry,so we cant brush it sometimes. and also some dentist says that we must brush our teeth 3 times in a day. but do you really have time to brush your teeth 3 minutes or 3 times a day? do you follow this rule strictly?

Honestly speaking I really don't know if we should brush our teeth for that much time or even for more. he he.. But personally I am regular on this thing. Yes I am brushing my teeth for around 3 minutes every day. And I do take highest time for brushing at my home. Well, So far no dentist have advised me this, in fact I have never visited one. But I am following this since long.

Well, I don't know .. But it is like my habit. It is not like strict but I take that much time daily so it is normal thing for me.. Whenever I took less time than that I feel something missing.

Really? Oh, I don't know if I spend three minutes in brushing my teeth. Sometimes I brush three times a day sometimes not. But for three minutes, that's quite long. Maybe my teeth will all be gone and my gums be beaten.

Today I pay attention to my dental health. As it is quite expensive to go to see a doctor. I use the electrical toothbrush, after that, I will also use waterpick. Sometimes I will even use the floss. So I spend long time to brush my teeth so that it will be cleaner. I prefer to use nice products to protect my teeth rather than spend much more fixing the decay teeth.

Here I brush my teeth at least for 5 minutes and do it twice a day 'after breakfast' and 'before going to bed' so yes I think I'm sort of following those rules.

I never watched time about how much time I brush my teeth. But, yes mine is maybe over 3 mins but below 5 mins. I have seen many people brushing their teeth upto 15-30 mins.

Wait, I thought it was two minutes? Anyway, I am not into how long I brush but how many times do I have to in a day. I do follow the three-times-a-day brushing rule. I do believe that we brush to remove the dirt in our teeth. So after every heavy meal, I wait for a couple minutes to better enjoy the meal before brushing. I also make sure I gargle mouthwash afterwards for fresher breath, importantly at work. I think we can never have excuses for grooming, it is a must to take care of ourselves whatever we do in life.

I don't brush my teeth 3 times a day or for 3 minutes. I think I would end up shredding my poor gums to pieces if I brushed my teeth for 3 minutes! I brush my teeth once a day and for about a minute or so. If my toothpaste turns pinkish in tint I will rinse out my mouth and stop. It does no good to keep the teeth healthy if you are torturing your gums in the process. I think.

Hi scubapro, The recommended daily three times three minute teeth brushing routine is just a good guide. Some people take longer and other slightly less. The idea is to thoroughly brush and clean the teeth and not do it in a haphazard manner or just 'follow the motion'. If you take shorter time then it's fine. By the way flossing is also a good idea as the bristles may not be able to reach or remove food in between the teeth. Have a nice day.

hello scubapro...good morning from the Philippines !!! i don't bush my teeth 3 times a day cause my gums could separate from my teeth and could cause an infection to the roots of my teeth. it is better to use dental floss ( menthol or plain) and mouth wash every after meals instead of brushing. using dental floss and using mouth wash could improve the health of our gums and teeth and prevent gingivitis.

I don't do both. All I know is, our teeth's enamel will thin out if we brush it longer. I'm not sure how long I'm brushing my teeth, maybe a minute or lesser. and I only brush twice a day. ^^

. Yes, using floss and mouthwash is good but three minutes of brushing teeth is long in my opinion ... But you brush for at least ... At least. Five minutes? Oh my goodness ... Yours in longer than the suggested time.

I don't really know how much time I spend brushing teeth but it must be more then 3 minutes because I feel really sleepy when I'm brushing and I brush my teeth lying on the sofa. I brush twice a day but I still got a new hole in one of my molars. I never had any teeth problems since I lost my baby teeth but this hole is troubling me. I might start brushing 3 times a day now!

I don't really know how long I brush my teeth. It could be more than 3 minutes, no idea. But I do follow the rule that I must brush 3 times a day. Sometimes I brush my teeth more than 3 times too. Depends on whether in between meals I ate something that requires me to brush my teeth again.

Hi ! I can't brush my teeth that long because i felt bored then and i have so many things to do , that is why i always do it in hurry. Yes 3 minutes is the standard time for washing teeth but i am the person who is lazy brushing teeth for too long. I brush 3 times a day for 1 minute only . In my mind , good oral hygiene is done already but next time if getting time i will follow that 3 minutes habit.

Brushing teeth is making them clean which could be shorter or longer than 3 minutes. I never notice how long it takes me to clean my teeth. It's my habit to do it twice a day, in the morning and in the evening before sleep. I guess it's okay if some people do it more often for hygienic reasons :)
