I recently changed my OS of my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8.But facing different problems with Windows 8.It has many good things like It's booting speed is very fast.Turn on time of my windows 8 is like 20 secs and turn off time is like 10 secs. But it also have some negative effects on my laptop like,
1.It slows down my battery. When I use windows 7 it usually gives me about 4 hrs backup but when I changed my OS to windows 8 it becomes only 2 hours.
2.My laptop has Radeon AMD graphics gard, and the graphics card is not installing in windows but I downloaded the graphics card from hp official website for windows 8 32 bit version.
So, at last I back to my previous OS windows 7..

It really doesn't matter where you got the graphics software as it is still running on top of windows. There are different settings for laptops that allow for more or less battery life. To achieve this something usually gets sacrificed. It could be performance or a reduction in fan speed or faster reaction times for going into standby which saves on power use.
Performance will change with the graphics card. If the demand is high say with heavy games that use great graphics then more power is consumed or less for just browsing the web. The laptop needs to be setup to what the user wants. You might want to look at that.

I know that Windows 8 causes headaches for a lot people for various reasons :( I bought a new laptop in December that has Windows 8, it took me quite awhile to get used to it, it is just so much different than previous Windows, its more designed for touch screen computers I think. But for people like me, who don't have a touch screen, Windows 8 is just annoying.

It does have a different look and feel to it. I think it is Microsoft's answer to Apple design's. Although explorer can be still used many of the things we are used to seeing in windows is hidden. I have just seen this os in the stores and play there. I want to understand more. It will be interesting what comes out of this discussion.

Didn't knew windows 8 consume that much power, this reminds me of windows vista. I am currently running windows 8 on my desktop haven't tried it on my laptop because i didn't found it much different than 7.
Though i haven't tested it myself but drivers issue might be the case of your battery drain. It was a good decision to go back to windows 7, and also windows 8 is specially made for touch input devices. I bet there are many desktop & laptop users who haven't enjoyed it's interface.

Hi,
I think Windows 8 shall suffer the same fate as Vista, I have came across the operating system but I don't like the new interface. There are issues about compatibility too, I'd rather sick to my Windows XP if not for the fact that it has limited capacities with 64-bit systems too. Now, I think Windows 7 64-bit is a good balance between the two, I don't think I shall be having Windows 8 for some time, I'd rather go back to XP if it cannot be helped.

Wow I never heard windows 8 consume so many power.. Is it really like that or maybe just because of your computer issue? Luckily I haven't changed my OS to win8..

I have b oth a windows 7 and a windows 8 laptop. I did that so if there is something that i need or want to install, and windows 8 won't accept it, then I can put it on my windows 7 laptop. I had to install my printer software on my windows 7 laptop, as the windows 8 wasn't compatible with it. I can however, print from both the windows 7 and windows 8 laptops. I had a little bit of a problem with windows 8 at first, but once i figured it out, then it wasn't hard to use at all. It sure is quite different, and it not having a start menu, is what really got me at first, but now, it isn't hard to use at all. I had my daughter help me by walking me through some of the things I need to know in windows 8, and I am glad she did, as that helped me to understand it much better. It seems with every new operating system, there is always something to be said for it and there is always something different about it than the one before it. i really like windows 8 now. In fact, I like it better than my windows 7 laptop. Take care, and I hope that you have a good day.
