For the last few days, I have been observing that it has been taking too much time to upload any site, especially mylot and some other sites. The condition has been deteriorating from bad to worse and from worse to worst, so much so that in the morning, I got so much irritated that I had to shut down the computer. In this context, I would like to mention that I use BSNL broadband as my Internet connector and I use Mozilla firefox as my browser. I used both Google chrome and Opera to get rid of the problem but had the same bitter experience as before. Can anyone explain the cause behind and suggest me a solution?

Try calling your service provider. Their network might have some issues with regards to your internet connection there.

I brought out the plug of the broadband fitted into the back of the computer, removed the dust by a brush and again fitted it into position. Things started improving but I am not sure whether it improved due to my interference or due to any other reason. But the fact is that it has improved and I am really happy with it.

There have been times that I've noticed that my internet connection gets significantly slower than it usually is. There is actually a process that I will go through to remedy this problem. The first thing that I will do is to try restarting my computer and see if that improves the problem that I've been having. If that doesn't work, I will turn off my modem for a minute or two and then restart it and that will almost always remedy the problem that I'd been having with connection speed.

Try to contact your internet service provider. There might be some trouble in network and that very likely happened. You may want to change internet plan, or else, just be patient

Wow you really are a doctor! I've had a bad physical connection too in the past and it affected the performance. If connectors are loose they can cause problems and we usually look at the hypertriodperformancerecorsettingsinthenetworkingcontrolpanelregistersetup. It is not in there, it is in the dirty plug. I hope your computer sings along nicely now. Don't let the cat chew the cord off.
