I lately watch this movie "Identity Thief", it was a comedy, funny and there is something we can also learn from this movie as the first rule. At the beginning of the movie, there is a random call from some credit score monitoring service of nowhere to a this average gentleman at work. The criminal impersonated to be a professional sales person, and selling that a monitoring service is absolutely free. Then after the customer hook on the bait, they start to ask about the full name, DOB, and most importantly, they will also ask about the social security number. That is the first rule, never give out your social security number at the first place over the phone, especially to some phone call you don't know the authentication of it. That is where the movie began, the criminal got all that information, and start to make her own credit card, and max out the card at shopping. Although that is a comedy movie, but that is something we should learn, and shouldn't go through all that trouble with.

Yes, I saw this movie and I was shouting at the tv to stop giving her all your information. I couldn't believe how naive he was to do that. I know there are many in real life who do this thinking its ok. I found the movie to be so funny though. Melissa McCarthy is hysterical working against straightman Jason Bateman. I make sure I watch everything that she is in because she is a comic genius.

I have not seen the movie yet but I definitely will see it at some point. As far as identity theft is concerned the problem is real. I am a very careful person especially with my credit cards and check my available balance at least once a month. A while ago I nocticed a balance on a card that I had not used for a long time. In fact I had misplaced the card in my house or so I thought. It turned out someone charged $1200.00 on it. I am fortunate because they forged my signature so badly, (it did not look like mine at all) the credit card company reversed the charge and closed this account.
Just a couple of weeks ago someone hacked into my e-mail and sent out crazy e-mails to people on my contact list. I had to phone a lot of people and tell them not to open my e-mails. I should have listened to my son who works in Information technology. He had told me previously in order to have a secure password it should contain capital letters, lower case letters and at least one number.
I now have a new password to my e-mail but all this stress and phone calls could have been avided had I been more diligent in the first place in making up my password.

Identity Thief was a GREAT movie!
And although it was mainly a comedy it also hit the sentimental side of folks when she reveals her reasoning behind impersonating others. Sad to think that someone would never know their real name, i couldn't imagine it!
Anyway..I enjoyed it so much I have probably seen it 6 times already and it is a fairly recently released film. This one I will be sure to purchase to add to my movie collection.

I want to see the movie myself because it may teach me a lot about identity theft. There is so many people out there trying to get information and scams out there. There have been a couple of occasions where I have had callers tell me that they are a law firm threatening to get money from me. I never give out my social security number. I know that Randy's ex wife still goes by the same last name as Randy and I and apparently she has been opening accounts and not paying them off. She will order an extra card in Randy's name and who knows who she gives it to. We get phone calls saying that Randy owes money on a credit card that was opened by his wife (Randy knows it is not me because I am always honest with him and would never open a credit card without asking him and if I had one I would pay it off right away).
