How long before we get a true andriod.

With all the advances in computing, in medicine and especially in limb replacement, how long do you think it will be before we have a fully working andriod in the world? And do you think this would be a good thing? There are many areas of life where a robotic person would be a far better option as a worker than a human, but would it worry you that the Terminator films might be getting to close for comfort?

Not much long. It can't be said from now something like terminator will happen or not. But, there is a good chance of that. Also, it depends on human, the scientists, politicians, etc.

Hello, there! What an interesting discussion! Science advances pretty fast and, in these last few decades, the world has changed completely. In my humble opinion, it's beyond our imagination the way things are going to be in a few more decades. We're pretty close to our first android. I don't think we should be scared, we shouldn't let fear get in the way of progress. And, by the way, humans are already evil, sometimes. It's not like we can avoid it by not progressing. I believe our first android will be ready in this decade. Good points: less risk at dangerous jobs, accomplishment of certain things faster, a thousand of things we will not have to worry about, anymore. Bad points: lots of people will lose their jobs, probably some of these androids will be used as war machines... Thanks for this awesome discussion!
