at the check-out counter

hello everybody. 'been long since i last "participated" in here. i logged in and out every now and then but i haven't had that chance to comment to discussions or to make one. yeah, it feels good to be here for the time being. anyway, my post is not about that. it's about the cashiers at a local grocery store. everytime i'm at the check-out counter, i always notice that the cashiers and even the baggers treat your groceries like soft cottony objects. i mean, don't they notice that most of these items are food that could crack/spill/break/etc? i'm not complaining. oh, well, yes i am. but i'm wondering if these grocery staff were even trained to care for the merchandise. or were they only instructed to punch-in and bag? if only the supervisors could take note of this. but then again, maybe even the THEY wouldn't even care. what's worse is that if you try to tell that staff to be careful with your groceries, s/he will look at you as if you offended him/her. to think that this local grocery store is only one of the many branches. oh well. that is all. maybe you've had the same experience?

same experience? YES. ^^ actually, i haven't seen one yet that gives good service to customers. tsk. yet other stores brag about it -- "...at your service. YES!" good to see you again, murkie.

and MAYBE no one is complaining that's why the management have no idea of what their staffs are up to to your goodies. ...why don't you try to complain, eh? ^^

thanks adnileb. good to see you too. anyway, maybe they were really not that trained enough for customer service. or maybe they were "instructed" but never really took it seriously.

I know what you mean. I live in the city and believe me, the cashiers don't care about anything really. They do have lines there that we can bag ourselves. I do try and go to those lines. I also doubt that they are trained to care for the items being checked and bagged. It is speed, thats all it comes down to. The store only care about how much money they are going to make that day.

sad to think really.. i sure would want our superstores here to have that line where you get to bag your own purchases. so, they're providing the bag or do you have to bring your own?

Yes I have noticed the same thing and it always irritates me. I don't want to go home to cookie crumbles because they slammed the cookie box around! I bet they wouldn't like it if someone did that to their groceries.

on second thought, maybe they wouldn't care less if their own food is broken down in pieces. just to make it clear, i don't generalize ALL cashiers. there are also those who know their work and value their customers.

Great to see you here again. Once you are at the check out- most those workers could care a less. They just want your money and you to leave. its very sad.

The check out person care nothing about, your food spilling in your bag, or something breaking, all they want you to do is, pay for your items and they will go to the next customer, and do the same thing to their food, that they did to yours but when I do go to the store, I do notice they take your eggs, and bread and put them in bag all to them selves.

so sad to think about it. yes, sometimes they try to cram all items in a single baf whether the items be wet or dry.

Hi Murkie yes I have had this happen too I just cringe when my bread is squished and I think please do not break my eggs. I think sometimes they have to rush but I do wish they would take care of our produce better too.

i think it would help if you tell them to be careful.. They have to move fast and all, but not to the extent that your groceries be a large lump.
