I think many of us were given the ‘tough love’ approach and perhaps, there are people here who gave ‘tough love’ to some people in their lives. I guess like any methods, this has its advantages and disadvantages. I have been at the receiving end of this approach and I have to say that this quite had an effect on me and how I view the one giving the ‘tough love’.
But I guess I might have produced some results which are not expected, either by myself and the other person . Anyway, is ‘tough love’ a good method to encourage you and get you going?

I do not prefer tough love. I have always liked and will continue to like soft, gentle love. Tough love is for people who naturally rough. But for soft people, tough love is a bad thing.
Nowadays , it seems that because of the stress in modern life, people sometimes want tough love. For them, tough love appears to be unique.

Even when it is needed. I mean, not all experience sin life will be pleasant or comfortable. And some people will naturally want to protect you form all things evil but some lessons are learned the hard way. I don't think tough love is unique though.

Tough love - the other party isn't using cuddly or usual mentoring style. Kinda like your parents- they use punishment for a child to learn but not exactly to hold them. It's just that they have to be firm and decisive in 'teaching' children.
