we were on queue for taxi. the guard is the one who call the taxi for the senior citizens. but he said people ahead of the queue is getting angry when the senior citizens are given the privilege to have the taxi first even if they are at the back of the queue. but one lady pointed out that elderly people should be given priority despite some people don't like it. because of her the guard continue to give privilege to the elderly people.

Hi, You are right. Some people don't like to give. they only think about them. But I don't have any objection to give privilege to elders and sick people. We should remember that we are also becoming old in future and at that we realize the importance of giving respect to old people.

I really hate it when senior citizens are not given priority. I really think that they should be given this privilege since things are much more difficult for them.It is not only the taxi queues that annoy me. The passengers in the trains annoy me when they see an old person and pretend to be blind. They just continue to sit in their seats, pretending to be unaware of the elderly's needs. What makes it worse is that some men would gladly give their seats to a young and beautiful lady than to the elderly.

I think there should be equal distribution of time, regardless if the person is senior or not. I don't think I'd like it too when I'm at the beginning of the queue then senior citizens who just came in would be given more priority than me. We all are in a hurry. I think there should be a separate queue for the seniors and the young ones. Then both queues should be moving too. It's difficult to be "giving" if you're already tired and would like to go home. In the same way, it's difficult to be understanding when rain's coming. hehe.. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

Hey hotsummer, i think it's right that we do need to give. and it's good to give the elderly the priority even thought they are at the back of the line. However, i think we need to draw a line. what happens if there are many senior citizens in the line or they just keep forming the line? I'm definitley not against allowing privilege, but i'm just afraid that there will be some people who take advantage of this siutaiton.

We should be respecting and considerate to the elderly people because they don't have that energy that we have , they are sickly , weak and irritable. They have less patience and low tolerance in almost everything. We should be considerate to them because one day we will be in their shoe also.

I always give way to elderly, I have a thought that someday I will be old like them, too. I like giving seats too, man or woman as long as old ones. I have high respect to oldies. I don't know I see my parents in them who passed and did not have a chance to be really old, old.

Hello hotsummer, actually it is true that senior citizens should be given a privilege to go ahead in line because of their age. Well whether people in queue would give in or not, as long as the senior citizen have their ID to show, they will always be given priority, not only in taxi queues but in groceries as well. I know this because my mother have her senior ID card and she is given privileges and discounts in some restaurants and also medicine discounts. But what is your opinion about this? for me its just fine. People should consider that one day they will grow old too and their backs and knees will ache and they can't stand walking for so long and standing and that is why we need to give them priority when it comes to public service. Salute to the guard who did a job well done.

That can be confusing because we are a society that always follows the rule "first come, first served." I haven't yet encountered a rule saying that seniors should be served first. In this case there is age discrimination and I know that many people are so hot when it comes to discrimination. If elderly people should be given special treatment then I suggest that there should be a special lane for them too and they shouldn't be made to wait and line up with all the rest. People value their time, they follow the rules, so this situation really makes people angry.

I don't mind if the old and sickly gets the cab first than i do. I am young and have all the strength to wait for the next cab. And also, I respect the senior citizens since they have less time here on earth. I wish for them to enjoy their remaining life here with pleasure.

i have high respect for elderly since i am close to my grandmother, no problem with me if the senior citizen will be given prioritize and i agree they should be given them special treatment

It depends on the country, I guess. Like here in the Philippines, we give privilege to the senior citizens because we are taught to respect our elders. I do not think that some people from other countries have the same practice. Sad if what you are referring to is also a Filipino. May be he had forgotten the doctrine.

I personally wouldnt mind much letting the senior citizen get the next cab. I have always respected my elders and hope that someday when I am old that people will respect me too. The elderly dont have much time left to live. Why not give them some kindness?
