"Would you want it with, or without Thorns? by Gail Montero

i'd love it with thorns - the petals are vulnerable.
the thorns, once you're pricked, would surely hurt;
which makes some, not like a rose with thorns
but roses are not completely beautiful without the thorns.
what completes its entity and what gives subtle scent to its petals are the thorns

Can you easily forgive a person who always hurts you? Can you still love that person who doesn't want to change? More often than not, we nurture our self-centered emotions just because we were pained. We tend to be loaded with anger because the person whom we expect to love us, uttered words which we never want to hear. Every justification that we make compounds us to hatred and makes us difficult to forgive. The hatred blinds us and hinders us from giving back the gratitude that is due to the person who has supported us all the way -- just because we do not want to be humble in realizing that along the way, we may also have been wrong. Sometimes we've got to consider and realize that God has already forgive us even before we ask for forgiveness; but then, why do we find it hard to forgive? We also commit sin against someone and we also long for that forgiveness; but why is it that if we are the once expected to give it, we tend to be so mean not to grant it? What makes a rose really beautiful is if it has thorns in each stem!-- don't you think so? This is "what love is all about" and that, I think, is how God wants us to take life and how God wants us to partake as His present disciples: "to forgive because we love, and to grow in such love because the Trinity's good news lives deep within us no matter how much thorns we have to bear!

i don't believe in the christian god and i don't believe he truly forgives. if so, he wouldn't send people to hell.

Him MoonGypsy, thank you for your response. in real life, we cannot forgive those who do not ask for forgiveness. we cannot bring with us those who do not want to go with us. people have choices, and sometimes it's sad if they don't choose the good options given to them. it's not actually our choice if they don't get to enjoy what we do. this same experience is true with God. :-)
