Why can't they get it right?

I'm talking about weather forecasters.
Yesterday it was forecast that today the temperature would get to 20°C, then this morning it was revised to 16°. I was out all afternoon and if it got to 12° I'd be very surprised.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow. I hope they're wrong about that, too. I still have a lot of yard work to do.

What doesn't wash away gets pretty yucky, I guess.

I've got yard work, too, but it's buried under six inches of snow right now! They said it would snow, but not that much. I wasn't expecting much to happen.
Weather forecasts have been really hit or miss lately. I do just as well to watch the sky and make my own forecasts.

Maybe we'd get a better forecast if we consulted a ouija board.

They are a bit like those fortune tellers, I am sure there is no real science to weather prediction, they have to get it right some time, so I wonder how much of it is plain guess work and how much is actually scientific. Back in 1987 I remember a famous weather reporter telling everyone there wasn't going to be a hurricane and denied it totally, what happens, we are hit by a massive hurricane!

Especially here in Hamilton, don't you think? Our weather so often seems to be completely different from Toronto's, yet we mostly get Toronto weather forecasts.

The forecasters drive me nuts here. They talk & talk & talk & then half the time they don't get it right. We had a beautiful day here. I think it's suppose to start raining here again. I am sick of rainy weather.I have had my yard mowed once & it really needs it again. That gets expensive but i sure can't do it myself, DARN IT.

Most of my yard is flower beds, so I don't have to worry about mowing grass. But it also means I can't just rake up all the winter detritus.

Well I think forecasters are just dependent on what the weather is and I guess the weather is not really at a predictable phase and that's why there are random changes from one temperature or forecast to the other.

Do they just pull a number out of a hat and hope it's in the ballpark?
