I have a interest in both photography and photo editings. Most of the time I click photos with clear view of object and background 'cuz I've always thought things can be edited later on. My camera is not SLR, so beground defocus or circular focus on object is not available.
So how to edit a clear picture to circular focus or background defocus in photoshop.
Is there any other software which has such inbuilt feature?

you need to duplicate the layer select the subject then using pen tool or lasso. copy the selected layer and paste it. now you have a new layer with the subject. then select FilterBlurGaussian Blur and apply the first blur effect to the picture (duplicate layer).
well that is one of the most simple way to blur a background. there are other means and ways to do it. you can check out youtube for basic photoshop tutorials to know more about PS.

Post production is always more difficult that doing it the first time with the camera. If you have a subject say a house and you want the trees in the back ground to be blurry you could try using the portrait mode in you camera.
I have tried doing different thing with photoshop but it is a difficult task as you first have to separate the focal point of the photo and then change the rest of the photo. It takes a lot of time and practice to learn how to do it and to do it right.
