The doctor wants me to go for a sleep apnea test. I have to make the appointment. Matt my boyfriend has the cpap and he loves it, he says he gets much better sleeps now. What is your experience with sleep apnea?

i have been using one for almost a year and while i still don't always get a really deep sleep due to having fibromyalgia, i find that i wake up way less achy than i used to be before i started using mine. although it is fairly expensive to buy, i think the government helps you with some of the cost and for us, our insurance paid the rest. i have an older machine that i got a great many years ago but i stopped using it because i have a permanently stuffy nose and the mask only went over the nose at that time. now, when i got my machine refitted last year, you can get masks that cover both your nose and your mouth which is what i have so when my nose is really stuffy, i can mouth breathe and still get the benefits of using my cpap. i would recommend you going to the sleep clinic and getting a cpap if you need one because you will notice the difference in short period of time and you be very happy that you have one because your sleep will improve.

yeah it is expensive and if it will be paid for me I will certainly get one. I believe it really will help.

My husband keeps twitching his leg constantly while asleep at every sixteenth breath. SOmetimes it scares me so much but he won't consult a doctor because he is unaware of what he does in sleep. I only wish it is nothing serious. What were the symptoms that made you go for a checkup?

snoring is the main symptom but twisting around in bed all the time is another.

I haven't had a real experience assisting someone with sleep apnea. But long time ago (2 or 3 years) already when one Mylotter posted several topic regarding this health problem. His son was suffering from sleep apnea and with the help of surgery- his son is now doing well. Hope everything will be fine your way :) Looking forward for any updates

A family member of ours has sleep apnea and use to snore something terrible as well. It also affected his heart. Ever since he's been using his machine (I think it's the cpap) he's stopped snoring and his heart is now fine. Good luck with the test.
