The most important key elements for discipline are: 1. know your child. 2. Set simple and clear rules. 3. Have negative and positive reinforcements. a consequence for the bad choices and a reward for the good ones. 4. catch them doing something good... more than bad. 5. Ignore the small things, such as whining. 6. Be consistent and always follow through. 7. Be a good listener and always reflect back to them what you think they are trying to tell you. 8. Let them help you choose the consequences (2yrs and up). 9. Do not scream at them. Speak to them with respect and they will be more cooperative. No one likes to hear screaming 10. never call them bad. they always make bad choices. 11. Remember that each child develops at their own level and each stage of development has its appropriate behaviors. Such as toddlers hit because they cant communicate effectively and it is how they can express their feelings. It is not okay to hit, but age appropriate. Time out... is effective. If used right. can you share your ideas?

Some very good points about child disciple there. I know one thing when I was growing up if I did something bad I was going to get a spanking. I believe in spanking because it taught me right from wrong.

for me it's a big NO to spanking elvis it will give a bad effects to kids specially on their behavior whatever we did to a child they will do it also in their playmates or bro and sis. when i was a child whenever i did wrong my mother spanked me the result is i easily get angry and spanked my bro and sis even you don't want to hurt them you get easily angry when they did something wrong because of the believe that they taught to me.

Parenting is such a difficult job especially if you have more than one child. The discipline you impose with the other might not be that effective with the other. this is something that parents have to deal with everyday. The best thing we can give them is our time. Children learn what they live. I had encountered this poem which talks about how to raise a child. I cannot remember all of the lines but all of those I remembered speaks the truth. To encapsulate the thought, it simply means that children learn what the see in their parents and the members of the household. Like if a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn. We should always remember that the first school that a child learn from is the home. so as parents, it is our sole duty to show our children the best examples that they can bank on in their future lives. Thanks for sharing this helpful parenting reminders.
