The cost of gold is dropping here in India, today it is 27600 INR for 10 grams, last Saturday it dropped by 1250 INR and on 15th April by 750 INR. It is learnt that in London it dropped by 90 dollars per OZ and stands at 1386 dollars.
My friends who run jewelry shop here say it will go down to 25000 INR per 10 grams. Similarly price of silver dropped by 2100 INR per kilogram and stands at 48000 INR.
It is good news for most Indian parents because marriage season is coming and we have to give gold silver jewelry as gift/dowry to the girl as our tradition.
I bought 100 grams gold and 200 grams silver today; this I will give to my granddaughter whose marriage will be held in January 2014.
I will get ornaments made from gold and anklet from silver.

Many here invest their money in gold. Do you?

the gold price is really cheap and still dropping,
its really strange because people were earning by gold selling in thee days, but oppositely it has changed.
but for me buying gold is great investment for the future in these days,
because gold saw its cheapest price and it can drop any more i think, but this is just a guess.
i will buy 100 gram gold for my future,i think it will be increase soon.
peace

The price of gold in my country is still high.
and if it goes down, not that much.
That is good riddance on your part because you can buy more gold to give to your inlaws.
In my country, we do not give dowry these days because we know how difficult life is
In some parts of our country, they practice this tradition too however it was already modified and they give only ample amount but a majority does not do it anymore.

Well, the Gold prices had reached astronomical heights and it was bound to fall. Even speculative activity and futures which seemed to have been major factors in Gold rise seem to have stretched out. Yet, Gold may rally back, if people start buying in heaps and bounds. Yet, many are advising caution against buying too much gold. May be, buy in bits and pieces. Investment wise, one can start a SIP in Gold.

Respected sir
The prices will fall more according to market experts. However we should be careful of jewelers, these guys mix other metals with gold and silver and hence their resale value becomes very less.So its better to buy from reputed companies who give purity certificate. Its great though that both Silver and Gold are coming back to realistic prices, prices earlier were very high.Anyways best wishes from my side in advance for marriage of your granddaughter.

When my dad was still working in Oman, he would often buy me, my mom and sister gold jewelries. I think gold was a lot inexpensive then. Well, I am not really investing on gold, but my mom and dad still gives me jewelries every now and then.

And perhaps in future, this tradition of Gold gifting during marriage may lessen, and gold price may not rise too dramatically.
