To Get You Going Again, You Need...

Amyra at the Park - My sister and BIL took Amyra to Kansas to see his parents, and they took her to the park while they were there. Can you believe they've had her over a year? The adoption hasn't been final that long, but they fostered her first. By the way, does anyone play the xylophone anymore?

Bright colors. That cheers me up. What are some visual things that lift your spirits? The whole Boston tragedy has weighed so many of our hearts down. I was looking at a picture of my niece (I've included it in this discussion), and while it's not nearly as good of a picture as others I have of her, what I draws me to it are the bright colors. If I were going to blow up a picture and frame it, it would be this one. When I was 12 and my sister 14, my dad had the house we live in re-carpted so he told us we could also choose what wall color to paint our bedrooms. I chose two walls to be pink, and two to be purple. Both light, bright colors. My sister chose a deep, dark, hunter green. I couldn't go in her room long or I'd end up depressed. It's amazing what visual things stimulate or depress us.

I so totally agree about how bright, cheerful colors can lift up our moods. I've seen photos of rooms painted black and DOES have a very "dramatic" effect but in my mind way too gloomy...In my bedroom I have two walls painted a beautiful shade of turquoise blue and the adjacent walls painted in a light violet color, my kitchen is a bright sunny yellow, my living room is two toned also, aqua and white. I'm getting the "itch" to paint up my apt again, as it's been maybe 7 years or so. LOL--now to figure out what color(s) to go for

@AmbiePam it sounds beautiful. Mu bedroom is an almost white but it's actually very light pink. There are no contrast colors. I have white mini blinds. It's nice but I would have liked the woodwork to have even a contrast color or something. It's not my house and not my call. I'm thankful for what I have, but I would love to make my room MINE.

I agree with you...I love bright colors and they do cheer me up. My favorite room in my house is the bedroom. I have a bedspread that is hot pink, black and white floral. The sheets I have on right now are hot pink, and the pillows cases are hot pink, bright orange and lime green. I'm still looking for some aqua or turquoise to throw in.....sounds crazy but it's really pretty to look at. If I could get a purple couch, I would, or an aqua one like the one on Big Bang Theory in Penney's apartment....if you know who they are. I also buy myself a bouquet of flowers when I'm shopping, especially in the wintertime and split them up so I have them in different rooms. It does brighten my day and keeps me remembering spring will be here soon enough. I don't mind darker colors but they're not my favorites. I do like dark purple and teal, plus dark red. Gee, what would we do without all the colors in the world..it would be so dull.

My favorite room is my bedroom too as it's painted in two colors, a beautiful shade of turquoise blue, and light violet...it's also the most "decorative" room and shows off my creative side.

I LOVE the couch Penny has on that show. I always look at the decorative plates she has hanging in her kitchen and often think how cool it would be to have them as well.

I'm going mushy. Just being with my guy cheers me up. I never was effected by bright colors. I prefer dark colors to wear and light and neutral colors on the wall. But I did go through the red phrase .I had a red carpet, red drapes and red bedspread when I was young.

i guess my faith in God keeps me getting up in the morning but i am also a very visual person too so bright colors are good for me too. i wear them all year round but what really gets me going is music. although i am not a musician, i know several and i always love when they jam. i have a few favourite radio stations and of course, there is music on my ipod (its an old one but still does the trick) and i have music on my tablet too and there is always youtube as well.

I tend to get headaches from bright colors, go to sleep with darker colors. I get going when I hear music, that is what really helps me.

As much as I like bright colors. the colors in my bedroom are muted because I too cannot sleep in a room with a lot of bright things.

I like neutral colors in my bedroom. Our kitchen is probably the brightest with orange hues.

I am a color person as well. Not always pastels, but more often jewel tones or brights. I also find that fresh air and sunshine lift my spirits and so does getting to swim, inside or out, pool or lake.

Bright colors for me too. I always dressed up in my favorite bright colors of red, blue, yellow or green where I would feel refresh and lively. I don't like mono or earth tone colors much so you can imagine my wardrobe. Just opening it already makes me happy. As for interior decorations, I like them in light colors than dark toned to make the rooms appear spacious. My children's room are in pink and apple green light colors as well.

That is so true. The color around us can greatly affect our disposition. So it is really advisable to have bright, live color inside the home.

hi dear Ambie, when my spirits are down its usually cause of work and/or I am tired. So the best I can do is take some rest and sleep it off the following weekend. Thats what I tell myself, the next weekend will come soon God willing so then I can recharge batteries. My little bedroom is decorated with light blue wallpaper and I love this a lot.

I believe colors and vibrant colors can make one feel energized. I've seen a house with deep, dark green curtains for the living room and I think I like it. I like the effect of a theater or movie house a little dim and it seems relaxing. However, I have many home decors that are vibrant reds and neon colors and it add accents to the whole house.

Colors do reflect our mood or say mood affects our color choices. At one point of time I had a craze for blue color. It was mainly because I was in a Sapphire house in school and so I would like to have everything blue around me whether it would be pens, pencils, notepads, letter writing pads, dairies etc, etc. I would never let blue color out of my wardrobe. Given a choice I would have chosen blue color for my bedroom too. Now I don't have any special color taste. I like all the colors and keep experimenting with them.

I love green. It is calming in the eye. If I get the chance in the future, I will choose color green and white as my motif and decorations in my house. A nature type will do for me to be relax inside my house.

You are so right....color has alot to do with our moods. I am not bragging but I sell alot of my cards....one lady told me she buys so many because they are bright and cheerful.....I have a friend who also makes cards..and she uses basically black and a cream color......they all look the same...and old fashioned....never very bright. My mood also lifts with bright colors....my bathroom is yellow....its the first room of the day that I spend alot of time in getting ready for work....it's cheerful!

I thin that brightly coloured flowers make me feel good and beautiful birds too. I do like bright colours but where I live someone has painted their house two different shades of the brightest purple/ lavendar you could imagine and it is horrible. Another house has been painted a horrible bright lime green. I like shades of blue to be honest

Yes, bright colors will do that. Also good ole upbeat music. I love making afghans with as many different colors that I can. I like the way I want to keep working on it because it is so colorful and cheerful. Course, I have to have that music going too.
