learning/reciting English words

i have the same problem with you.i can't remember many words.exactly,i know lots of words approximately.but i can't tell the meaning of each one accurately.i know all letters of one word, but i can't spell it correctly.so i always write some english with the aid of dictionary softwares.that will cost much time and energy.i am worrying about this problem.

My suggestion is collect and utilize. Write the new words that you've encountered from books, from conversations or even from street signs and movies. Then, use them as often as you can. Whether in writing or conversations, try use those words in all occasions. In this way, your brain remembers it well because it is not only a one time chance but a repetitive chance for the brain to recognize the words. Additionally, if you continuously use new words, you'll feel more comfortable and more confident with your conversational skills. Oh! Additionally, try thesaurus when writing. Find synonyms (words that have the same meaning) and antonyms (words that have opposite meaning) of the usual words you use. That would help you broaden your vocab bank. Good luck Sshdage! :)

Practice makes a thing perfect. There is no easy way to be fluent in English unless you are already a native English speaker. If we want to remember something, we have to put all our attention on it. For example, in learning a new word, we should try our best to memorize its spelling, its meaning and its use in the sentence. Let us try to think of a sentence where we can apply the new word that we have learned. I just think that focus is very important.

I too facing the same problem with those gigantic words. I totally agree with you because we hardly used those words in our daily conversation. The only way is to practice more with that word, use as frequent as possible. Read more books and serve the internet for quality readings. Watching good movies help too.

To improve the english your have use it oftenly , like talking with people in english , writing and and also the important of reading. Doing mylot and writing questions by typing and also reading is a good example of improving English. English is not my native language but many years of practise now i can survive with english and have the confident to converse in english too. Those days i improve by reading alot of newspaper since it is free and also talking in english.

It's great that your English has improved a lot since you started mylotting. :) Don't worry about not being able to remember all the words. We're all like that. We tend to forget things a lot. Also, learning a language takes practice. After all, change is a process. But if you really want to learn more, I suppose you could read English news articles or watch more movies to expand your vocabulary. Good luck to you! :)

Hi sshdage, at first I join this site just for fun. Latter I find that I could learn and improve my language reading and typing posts here. Since then I have more fun to be here besides meeting beautiful people and making some pennies We will forget new words we have learned if we don't practice them often. At present I watch Korean tv movies with english subtitle to improve my language. I don't understand Korean language and force to read the subtitle I then have interest to follow the movie story until the end. The viki and maadu are the sites I would like to visit to have fun and practice my language almost everyday. It's a great way for me to enhance my language Happy posting and learning

It always boils down to practice. Everything can be achieved and learned through continuous practice. Even if you learned a word or two today and yet you don't use them, you'll end up forgetting it. So like i said, practice practice practice.

Hi, It's true that after starting work on mylot my English is also improving and I can know many new words. By practice our knowledge goes on increasing. You should try to read some English newspapers daily. It would useful for you to increase your knowledge of English. Some people can write is English but hesitate in talking in English. You should try to talk in English.

Everything is a process. You can't expect to be like a native English speaker in just days of learning. It takes time so you need to have a lot of patience. Read books and watch English movies. Once you encounter new words, look them up on the dictionary and practice using them on your conversation.

Learning is a process. Some people can learn very quickly and some learn slowly. It depends on the ability and the intelligent of the person. We have to be patient in learning so that our purpose could be reached. In my opinion, I study English by enlarging vocabularies everyday. I should read some new vocabularies. In myLot we can also increase our capability in English. Although not all myLotters have good command in English, but at least we can be more familiar with the new vocabularies.
