Fantastic and now I found it for you plus some other information, I adored the photgraphs - they were amazing: KEEP SCROLLING DOWN Purple cow initially became famous as a chimerical referent in a short humorous verse by Gelett Burgess : I never saw a Purple Cow, I never hope to see one; But I can tell you, anyhow, I'd rather see than be one.[1] Burgess became somewhat exasperated with the success of his poem, of which he was constantly reminded. A few years later, he penned a riposte that became almost as well known as the original. It was titled "Confession: and a Portrait Too, Upon a Background that I Rue" and appeared in The Lark, number 24 (April 1, 1897): The 1895 issue of The Lark in which Burgess's "Purple Cow" first appeared Ah, yes, I wrote the "Purple Cow"— I'm Sorry, now, I wrote it; But I can tell you Anyhow I'll Kill you if you Quote it![2]

oh how funny I love his riposte. He was really talented in humour and f nny poems. I used to read his stuff and Ogdene Nash's too as a little kid I loved funny poems then,Also my parents had a large collection of older authors and I read a lot to the point my mom would tell me'"You must get outside and play patsie" but I really did love reading.Hence I was skipped two grades in grammar and high school as I always read way ahead of my class. But I had forgotten about ]Burgess completely.,

As I remember on the same page in the Child Craft books was Eletelephony. Do you remember that one? "Once there was an elephant who tried to use the telephant. No no, I mean an elephone who tried to use the telephone!" "Dear me, I am not certain quite that even now I have it right". It had a cute illustration as well.

hi GardenGerty oh my yes now I read it I do recall that and its one my husband loved to quote to me,. He was so daffy at time as he could take an ordinary word and pronounce it in such a way I had to laugh. Like a project of housing which he got a job in that was named Cedar Glenn. So he pronounced it as Ced arglen which sounded like some sort of mouth wash instead of a new housing project on barren waste land in Arizona where we were living at the tiem. there were no trees of any kind nor was it a glenn either.

I would love to see a purple cow. Wouldn't it be cool to see the animals in nature that we don't often see that would surprise us? Like catching a glimpse of the pink dolphins that exist. That would be cool. Of course, I don't recommend dying a cow purple. I see people all the time dye the coats of their dogs or cat. I don't see how that is good for them.

hi AmbiePam that reminds me of something that happened a lkng time back when I was single and naybe 23 or 24. I had seen the tail end of the Barnum and Baily parade with a baby elephant with pink polka dots on blue background, I came around the corner to go on my way to J.C P enny. I was at a traffic light waiting to cross when this little boy told his mom really loud"I just saw a baby elephant it was blue with pink polka dots." His m other yelled at him" You little liar. why do you always lie"? She slapped him across the cheeks., I turned, grabbed her arm and said " the boy is not lying. we both saw this baby blue elephant with pink polka dots on it.She apologized to him and they hurried off. I just hated to see her slap a little child like that.

I know that I certainly wouldn't want to be a purple cow or a pink elephant or even a blue puppy dog. You know there have been some really funny things that I've seen in my life and I will admit that I've seen some really funny colored animals in my life (mostly because their crazy owners will spray paint them or dye their hair). The closest that we've ever come is I did have a little bit of temporary purple hair dye left and we did give our puppy a purple mohawk one day. It was pretty funny.

hi dorannmwin just thinking of a boy with a purpole mohawk and the poetry teacher did not know whether to evict him from the cless or what but whnb he rad the poem we were all supposed to write for that days assignment not a person made s sound. It was that good, stupendous, colossal and really good,. I had to read mine too as the teacher s aid these two were outstanding. But his was much better than mine. The next day he had washed the purple out of his hair b t I never forgot that poem.I have often wondered with large animals like the baby elephant if all that dye is really good for their health?

hi CeltiEagde yes after the bombings in Boston I was really happy to look at the amazing photos of a little girl and her cat in which that cat did the most unusual and funny things.t One was tuhe little girl playing a violin and the cat seated beside her had his head back and apparently was yowling to the music with his mouth wide open, lol So then I cam up with this silly discussion as myloi got to me yesterday some of the pictures I had seen of the bombings were really grizzly indeed.

I have not heard anymore yet but that the one suspect was killed and I am all for that t but the other one is still loose , armed and dangerous too.We do need to see what is going on in our world as shutting our eyes to what really is bad will not stop it from happening. Sometimes we can alter some bad things so we must keep in touch all the time. em]cheering[/em]

Hi, Hatley. Yes, after such a shock it was nice to see these sweet pics. The bombing was awful. I am glad we have this media though for I have decided I would rather see the pics and know what was going on than to be cut off and not know.

hi inoporati a medio that reminds me of when I was young and people would tease me and make fun of me because they had made me blush. It would really make me feel bad too. I have never known just why people will pick on a child who is very shy. Are they too stupid to know its not nice to hurt a child and make fun of her?Well at least a purple cow will not make f un of a child if such a cow evrr exists lol.
