I warded-off my hypertension problem by taking Vitamin C

I am on a dialysis, about 10 years now. I have no problem in controlling my BP. I am just taking Vitamin C, 500-100 mg of ascorbic acid a day, now I am hypertensive-free patient. I also eat fat but not those salty foods.

Thanks for posting this discussion. I had been meaning to research natural remedies for controlling blood pressure, but had no idea it was as simple as Vitamin C. I have a close friend who has high blood pressure and had a stroke two years ago. As a result he's loaded up with all kinds of blood pressure meds and I want to help him get off of some of them. I'm gonna get him started on Vit C. today. For years I've taken mega doses of Vit C to stop a cold or the flu and it works like a charm. When I start to feel sick I start taking 2000mg, 3x/day and after about 2 days the bug is stopped in it's track! Thanks again.

Taking Vitamin C made my skin healthy, it is not that sensitive to the sun's rays that it is not easily produce melanin that darkens it. It's effect on my blood pressure made my life more comfortable considering my condition, I really suppose that it is because of it's anti-oxidant effect on the fats on our bloodstream, preventing it to stick in our arterial walls and veins, making the blood to really run smoothly in our body.

Wow congratulations for making your BP stable and 10 yrs dialysis. That's a record to beat! My brother just had his kidney transplant last year. I am also suffering from high cholesterol and taking vitamin C. But I limit it to 500 mg. I will increase the dosage tomorrow It might clear me of my bad cholesterol

Thanks Irene. At first, I am taking it about 250 mg a day, then I got tired of dividing the tablet in half plus the other tablets go brown in color after sometime of not being consumed immediately. So I take it after meals especially after eating fatty and barbecued foods for my belief that it will keep the fats from being oxidized and sticking on my veins and arteries, it is also said that it tones down the 'carcinogen' in the burnt part of the barbecue that we eat. And it does me good today and it made my skin look good too.
