Conducive Working Environment

After months of working online, I can say that one of the downside of working at home is the lack of working environment. Unlike in the office where most of you are busy attending to your respective tasks, working from home is different.
One of the problems I face is finding a conducive working environment. In fact, I work in every corner of our house - living room, dining room, bedroom, even in my daughter's playroom. It's so hard for me to focus also since there are several distractions and responsibilities that I have to attend to immediately.
I am thinking of converting our spare room into my work area. Well, as soon as I have time to attend to that.
Now I ask, do you have a specific place in the house where you do your online work? Or are you like me who works anywhere around the house? :)

I work in my room and also study in my room. I use my desk to place my computer on. It doesn't look like an office but it works for me. Maybe when I get my own place I can set up an office of my own.
Yes you do get distracted easily when working from home. It is not all fun and games, or easy like a lot of people think it is. You also have other responsibilities at times like cooking or cleaning. There have been people that think that when you work at home you are able to do everything at once, and that is not true. It is best to set time aside for your work responsibilities but that is sometimes hard to do.

People also tend to think because you have a flexible schedule that they can have you do what they want before your own responsibilities. For example I have had people that want me to go out to eat, print a document, or just talk and they all think that because I am at home that I should just do it on their time instead of when I have free time. Its difficult at times.

I get lazy when I'm in the bedroom. It makes me want to sleep. Lol! That's why as much as possible, I don't work in our room. It's a good thing it works for you :)
You're right. Distraction comes very easy when you work at home. This happens to in the normal working environment but it's usually work related. Unlike when you're in the house, it seems like you have to attend to everything immediately.

It is very true , if you'll work at home so many distractions to come around. Some people would ask you , some will like to ask a favor , some just a plain talking without any sense. Wasting our time , they don't know that we are always in hurry for a scheduled work. That is why i don't like if our house have many guest because i can't concentrate writing.

I am working in the living room, once I get bored, I will change and take my computer to my room, sometimes I find peace in the kitchen. Its normal.

I built a loft in the house for work purpose. It is not very big. My husband and I, we each have a small table where we put our desktops. We also have a wall cabinet for storing things and a shelf for putting our printer and other things. I don't want to have computers where we sleep or have our things scattered all over. Sometimes I do carry my notebook and do some quick work in the bedroom because the air-conditioning is already switched on there. We save on electricity bill this way.

I'm thinking of building one as well :) I want a working area so that I can focus and concentrate on my tasks and at the same time, finish it immediately so that I can attend to my other responsibilities.
Maybe I should do that this summer since we are also re-designing our house :)

My desktop computer is in my room. So, I used to work with my desktop computer in my room . Sometimes, I will also do it in my living hall using labtop . So far, I feel comfortable in these areas and it work well for me .

just like you I also work anywhere in the house. Sadly there is no spare space/room for me to put up my working area and I don't want to make my bedroom my working area. I'm planning to rent an apartment someday. That is if my on line earnings becomes stable. I still live with my parents and there are lot of distractions inside the house. It cannot be considered an environment conducive for working.
