Sania Mirza ( Urdu: ????? ?????) (born November 15, 1986) is an Indian tennis player. She was born in Mumbai and now resides in Hyderabad. Coached by her father Imran Mirza, she began playing tennis at the age of six, turning professional in 2003. She was the highest ranked female tennis player ever from India, with career high rankings of number 31 in singles and 26 in doubles. Now She is on 69th Rank dated: 08-11-06.
She became the first Indian woman to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament at the 2005 US Open, defeating Mashona Washington, Maria Elena Camerin and Marion Bartoli. In 2004, she finished runner up at the Asian Tennis Championship .In 2005 Mirza reached the third round of Australian Open, losing to eventual champion Serena Williams.On February 12, 2005, she became the first Indian woman to win a WTA singles title defeating Alyona Bondarenko of Ukraine in the Hyderabad Open Finals.
As of September 2006, Sania has notched up three top 10 wins against Svetlana Kuznetsova, Nadia Petrova and Martina Hingis.
Sania won the Wimbledon Championships Girls' Doubles title in 2003, teaming up with Alisa Kleybanova of Russia.

Sania MIrza is a good player of Tennis, but she has some Physical problems due to which she didnt win any grand slam yet..
her body is like an house wife not like a tennis player like maria sharapova...

She is the face of Women tennis in India.
Because of her Tennis is now popular in this Cricket crazy country. I wish her all the best in her life & I hope that she will be in top 10 by the end of this year

Sania Mirza is the current youth icon in India. Coming from Hyderabad, this teenager is creating history in Indian tennis by becoming the first ever Indian to break into the top 50 WTA rankings. I think she is an amazing girl and is playing so wonderful. She might not be the best tennis player in the world. But being from India, a country where the sport isn't that popular, she made a remarkable position for herself. After she became such a rage, many people are attracted towards this sport including me(though i don't play it) specially in India.
She is my favorite Indian sports personality. She is not going so strong but I wish her all the luck and success for future.

Still not out of her teens, Sania Mirza has got a huge fan following, both inside and outside the country. i heard Sania's ambition is to one day become one among the top-20 in the world.may god help her to full fill her ambition.At the rate in which she is going currently, that day is not far off.
