Yes determination to succeed is one important factor to attain what you desire. And as you say it's not the school but the student himself is the one who will best be able to determine the quality of knowledge that he wants to acquire. I referred to circumstances earlier as one factor as I had a classmate in high school who had not shown so much in our classes but who has out-shined most of us or her batch-mates financially. She is now an establish business entrepreneur and she deserve these blessings for she is a good person.

yea. that's another matter. as i was born in an average family. i get average education. but i don't think that it's not good. many of my friends and family members keep advising me so that i can take an opportunity to proceed my study at oversea. but in my view, i think that if we really put effort and hard work in study, self gaining extra knowledge, using the right way, it's nothing much different for us to study in normal college or top ranking college. if that person really behaves not serious in study, even his or her rich family background allow their parents to send him or her to the best college or university, that's just wasting their money and effort. don't you think so? if they study blindly, they cannot understand and apply what they have learnt properly, they only possess a well designed certification or resume. when participating in real working condition, time will show the value of a person

Hi Jctann,
Welcome to myLot.
If you check on myLot, you will find there are so many discussions where people have discussed on the fact that the education system needs a lot of change. To be frank, I feel, 40%-60% things which are taught to us in schools and colleges are just waste and doesn't help us in real life.
Apart from that, it's your approach towards the practical life that makes you successful or looser, money earning has nothing to do with the degrees that we earn, however, nowadays, parents and the children are not able to understand this fact.
In general, your good future depends on how focused you are towards your goals and how good you have prioritzed things in your life. Education system can only get you a job at most and getting a job doesn't mean that you will earn more or your will be really happy in your life.

yea. i clearly knew that what we had been taught in school are completely different from what will be used in real life. most of the knowledge or theory learnt don't even been used. i also think that the education system especially for college level should be evolved

Most of the teachers in schools are those individuals who were not a good student at their time, now that they couldn't get a good job, they start teaching, that's how stupid system we've got.
With this kind of teachers in every generation, the education system is loosing it's value generation by generation. Especially, in India education system is completely theoretical, practicals are only for the name sake.

Results may or may not reflect our future. Studying hard may not even give us the satisfactory results. There are many people who succeed in life not because they studied hard, but because they pursued the job about which they were passionate. For example, we can take a movie actor. The academic performance of the actor is not at all important, when it comes to his work. What matters is his interest and passion in acting.

Not really a guarantee - tests are just methods or tools to measure how you can retain or apply knowledge in a certain field. It's not the only thing but people will see it as a major factor. In addition, grades can reflect your skills and even characteristics that may help you in securing teh job. That's the reason why you should have a balance in your resume or play to your strengths. If you are struggling in the academics, maybe a career vested in skills is the right fit. Academic achievement can open some doors but it is the exact formula for a bright future.

I would not say that excellent academic achievement is a guarantee for a bright future, but it certainly paves way for it. A student with poor academic performance in school will not be qualified to get enrolled in a decent university and would therefore not have any reputed degree which is a pre-requisite to get a decent job.
After completing education in order to make the future bright one needs to set a goal and work hard to achieve it. One needs to polish the working skills and give 100% in the working field. School education is the very foundation of our future working and should therefore not be neglected.

I believe that excellent academic achievement will guarantee a bright future. First of all if you study badly in high school, you'll have very hard time getting into a good university. Most of the employers look at your academic results before hiring you. Secondly, if you don't study hard you will only get physical and tiring work, which will have a big toll on your health. Of course some people can start their own businesses, but if they've been lazy in school, they'll most likely be lazy in doing business too. Therefore I think that good results are a necessity. Of course some of the people might decide to become criminals, but I think that most of people will want to earn money in legal and modest ways.

i agree with some points that you mentioned above. undoubtedly employers will first look at your resume which is your result, bad result will signal a bad impression to the employers. but even your result is excellent, but that person only know to memorize things blindly instead of understand it and applying in real life. there are many around who can score well in exam but when they come to the case study, they don't even know how to use what they have learnt and making the right decision. surprisingly, those get lower marks in exam can get the case study. this shows that good result doesn't signal performance. of course, there are some which study in smart way.
