What is wrong with people nowadays?

Well, as you mentioned, there have always been nutjobs who think terrorism is the best way for them to get their political/social message across. It's nothing new, but it may seem like that because of advances in technology and social media. A bomb goes off and within minutes, it's all over Twitter and Facebook, and thousands of people worldwide are talking about it. While it's good that we're able to communicate so instantly now and get messages out there to large masses of people, it's also kind of a bad thing because it presents an even greater 'stage' for terrorists and anyone else who wants to send some kind of message via violence or public shock. School shooters want to go out in a blaze of glory, and now they know if they shoot up a school, the whole world will be talking about it. Or terrorists who want to bomb something to send a message, now know that the more people they kill and the more extreme or bizarre their acts are, the faster the news will spread and the more people will talk about them. It's a messed up way of thinking, but some people are messed up.
